No experience with a Bosch. We have a Jura at works and it’s ok, nothing great. The Breville Oracles are nice but they’re pricey. I’m not sure that what is available as far as automatic units in the $1000 range. How are the $1,000 range at home all in one units? I was looking at the Bosch with the built in grinder and milk frother for my wife.

I weigh my beans and water. What's the scale for? X number of grams of grinds per cup?
Regular coffee is made by pouring hot water through ground coffee at the ambient atmospheric pressure. Espresso is made by forcing hot water through a compressed puck of ground coffee at 9 bars of atmospheric pressure (19 grams of ground coffee extracted to 2-2.5 ounces of liquid in 27-30 seconds).
Maybe, just maybe you're inquiring about the differences between a caffe americano and a regular drip coffee?
Okay. But why? LolI weigh my beans and water.
Same reason you measure powder and go through all the case prep-it’s all about consistency.Okay. But why? Lol
Gotcha, to be honest that never crossed my mind hahaSame reason you measure powder and go through all the case prep-it’s all about consistency.
The amount of coffee in the portafilter combined with the proper tamp pressure and grind is what dictates how good the espresso is (assuming the temperature of the water is a constant....which is sometimes isn't depending on the machine). If the espresso extracts too fast it will be sour and if it is too slow it will be bitter.Okay. But why? Lol
I like the reloading comparison @rideold made.Okay. But why? Lol
Yeah, I look at it the same way as I do reloading. Find a recipe, be as consistent as possible with your prep and enjoy the fruits of your labor.I like the reloading comparison @rideold made.
It makes a much more consistent cup, and weight is more precise than volume.
Plus, I enjoy the ritual.
