He's always been pretty straight shooter, down to earth kid, I can't imagine giving an interview after that. I really don't gets why the crowd was on him....I respect any of those guys who step out there, and I actuallly think there are more class acts in wrestling today wrt sportsmanship than 25 yrs ago...not dogging the prior generation, but seems like all matside interviews you see this time of year are pretty classy (exclude Ferrari here)

There were a lot of great matches this weekend, favorite match of the tourny was probably Keegan/Carr semis I like both those kids, they ahve been a lot of fun to watch over the years, really great rivalry.

I was watching with my three year old, at the beginning of each match I would ask him who he wanted to win, he usually picks whoever has on a red singlet since that is his favorite color. His attention span is pretty short, but I had a proud dad moment when Levi Haynes walked out to "country boy can survive" my son stopped what he was doing told me he wanted this guy to win, and started singing along. Safe to say he has found his favorite wrestler.

Somehow I called out Levi's walk-out. Even told my wife during pre match commercial "Bet Levi walks out to a Junior song. Probably 'Country Boy' "

I caught the interview with 3rd placer Tyler Kasak (Levi's little brother). "What's next for you"

"Going to shoot a turkey with Levi"

Love them RedNeck kids......

For real? Where you getting the good Intel?

Okie State just snagged Hamiti.....wondering if Dean was aware of the retirement? I would think Coach Smith was always the draw to the program.

When Coleman Scott was hired as an Associate Head Coach from his head coach job at UNC it was only a matter of time.
Scott may have been the draw for Hamiti. UNC has had more national champs than Oklahoma State over the past five years

The Dylan Ragusin interview didn't exactly help Smith's future recruiting 😄

I saw it. I thought it was epic. They generally mind their manners and mouth. Dylan ripped it.

I dont follow UNC AT ALL. I know AC beat Levi for a title last year. The German kid Clarke placed high.

Ramos went to UNC but did he stay (on staff)?

I know you're an OSU fan. But the Perry dude never did much for me.

Are Guerrero and Espo still on staff?
Perry is John Smith's nephew. I don't know what he offers as a coach. Good resume as a wrestler.

I don't think Guerrero or Esposito are still there.

I saw that. And possibly an Olympic berth too. Good week for him. It will be exciting to see what happens there. My first prediction is everyone moves up one weight class

Crazy. Does this mean he is retiring from competition? Just nine months removed from his world championship where he either pinned or teched every opponent? He may have lost to Brooks at the Olympic trials, but I feel like he still has a few good years left as an athlete. I guess you have to take good opportunities when they pop up.

Big splash for Ok State. Maybe this will help even out the recruiting war that Penn State wins annually.

Bummer for Coleman Scott, who left his head coaching gig at North Carolina to be an assistant under John Smith, presumably to take over next year.

What do you mean "Olympic berth"??

@LostArra I was just ready to resurrect this thread and see your opinion.

I feel pretty gutted. I'll get over it. Sharing your Toys sux. Okie State was my second favorite program in the 'Ringer, Kaid Brock, Weigel, White, Picinnini days. I am sure I can learn to love them again.

Great snag for your program I would think. But he's also never "apprenticed" under anyone. Lots of guys bounce around their first few years as Volunteer or Assistance. Molinaro, Hall, Perry, etc Even Brands floated a little. This is David's first go. Not sure what he knows of budgets, ADs, RTCs, Recruiting, etc.

You think a few guys will bail? Per CP...there is a 'clause' with the portal if there's a coaching change. Couple decent kids in the portal. Who swaps to Stillwater?

I stated above that I am high on Dean Hamiti....he's gotta be thrilled.

Who does DT add as Staff? Initial rumors are BIL Jimmy Kennedy and Thomas Gilman. I think Gilman a no-brainer. Think he's pretty un-attached and free for the picking. Closer to home for him too.

Kennedy...not sure what his contract looks like.

Does he add Ringer to the staff?

Hearsay from ex-Cowboy wrestlers:
Big money donors wanted Taylor.
Burroughs also interviewed.
Kennedy and Molinaro as assistants.
Dake and Gilman with RTC (probably wishful thinking).

Coleman Scott gets hosed. But David Taylor was not in the coaching picture when Scott was hired as associate head coach. It was assumed Taylor would be heading to Paris.

Gutsy hire for someone who has not been a head coach but same story with Cael, Gable and John Smith.

I was reading that Brooks got popped for adderall. It’s listed as a banned substance for Olympic athletes. This is from twitter and Internet forums

I saw something about that but also saw that lawyers and doctors are involved and it could be a paperwork issue. I hope so for his sake. He might call Daton for advice.

Me too. I felt bad for Oliver a few years ago when a similar situation happened to him. He ended up losing 2 years because of where the dates fell. I’m excited for brooks cause he seems to be having one of those years that could be special
