Any Arrowhead Hunters out there?

My grandparents had about 45 acres in the north western part of SC. It was obviously a stronghold for native Americans at some point. Back in the 50’s when my dad was a kid, he found a tremendous number of artifacts like point s and pottery. He has a shadow ox of about 30 of the best ones. From small bird points to what I assumed are larger spear tips that are 4” +/- long. I have found a few one my own at a spot along the Savannah river where I get to hunt a few times a year.

My uncle was great at finding arrowheads on my great-grandparents' farm. As others have said, he found them mostly along waterways and in plowed fields. I still have a couple of his finds on my mantel.

Some of the others I have found, The top left is likely a Hell Gap spear point. I think those are ruffly 9000 years old.100_0168.JPG

Some of the smaller points I have found. Best point I ever found was stolen. Wish I had a picture.100_0169.JPG

The Savannah River basin is a good place to find arrowheads, the "Allendale Chert" was apparently a highly sought after blank for knapping.

Also of interest is the recently discovered "Topper Site" on the Savannah which archeologists have excavated and they claim it pushes back the date of human habitation in N.A. to around 50,000 BC.
