Well, since I got skunked for my western tags this year, I thought I might give an Anticosti deer hunt a try. It's something I've thought about since the mid '70s, but never got around to doing.

Does anyone have any personal experiences and recommendations for an outfitter there. I'm looking to go the first week in November.

Lac Genevieve, Safari Anticosti and the much larger Sepaq Anticosti are the Outfitters on Anticosti. If you weren't on Sepaq's wait list last year I doubt you got a November spot at least under the American Plan. I managed to book McDonald (sepaq) for a November hunt which is my 11th trip to the Island with Sepaq. When departing the Island hunters are given 1st opportunity to rebook their hunt for the following year, which does limit opportunities for new comers but guarantees a spot for regular customers.

interested in how you made out, if going this year where or when? I know some Sept and Oct spots were still open.

Lac Genevieve, Safari Anticosti and the much larger Sepaq Anticosti are the Outfitters on Anticosti. This year will be my 11th hunt with Sepaq Anticosti and I highly recommend them. I lost my spot due to border closures as a result of Covid but managed to secure a spot this year for the 1st week of Nov which is a little earlier than previous trips. Interested in if you managed to get a Nov spot which is sometimes tough as departing hunters are given 1st chance to re-book for the following year. I plan on re-booking for at least the next 3 years, God willing. Let me know how you made out

Unfortunately, I didn't make out very well. Like you said, they had no dates available for November.
you can contact Sepaq Anticosti and ask to be wait listed. I'm thinking about doing that myself for a December 2024 hunt which will mean a 2nd trip to Anticosti in '24 as I plan on re-booking my Nov hunt. I hated loosing my spot due to the Covid border closing so I'll be keeping that Nov hunt for awhile. Any questions just give me a shout I'll help if I can

Thanks. It's not that important to me. I was just looking for this year to fill a hole left by a lack of a western tag. Part of that was my own doing. I'll pull a tag next year.

Good luck to you on the island.

three single spots opened up on Anticosti for Nov go to Sepaq Anticosti and search their available stays. There are also 12 spots open in December at the Galiote camps. If your interested in a snow hunt in Dec Galiote is darn good, you'll be hunting migrating deer as they make their way to the shore to feed on kelp. I hunted Galiote in 2016 & 2017 very successfully.

If your interested in Galiote in Dec I would most likely cancel my Nov hunt at McDonald and join you but I need to know relatively soon as my final payment is due Aug 4th.

Any other hunter want to join a Dec hunt at Galiote let me know. That time of year its quite possible to be given snowshoes and ride with guide on snowmobile. They say the numbers of migrating deer seen can be high, i've counted 35 in a day then stopped counting.

Good hunting
