Another what should I use for elk thread

Then you already know,
1. Bring the .308 this year
2. Next year sell all three and build a Tikka in 6CM.

That’s roughly my plan these days. The more I shoot and hunt, the more I think these Rokslide nuts are right about the Tikkas and the small calibers, and actually training.
And an swfa 3-9! I do fall into the category of bullets over headstamps. Maybe it is time to build a tikka

I'd take the 308, all day every day, and twice on Sunday. I'm partial to 150 AccuBond's (I've even killed a moose with those), but whatever you got that you've alreaday proved shoots straight in that gun would be the ticket.

Elk ain't armor plated - I even kilt a 6x6 once with a 303 British, which has quite a bit less "jam" than a 308. Shot placement+penetration = dead as dead gets, in short order.

I'm sure you dont need another guy to say it, but 308.

It's plenty of gun for the distance you're talking and the scope fits the country you'll be in just fine.

308 all day even if it is a Ruger Scout. Just carrying it will be more enjoyable. I carried a Savage FSAK116 in 338 win mag. 1 day up and down the mountain. After that I grabbed my model 7 and sold the 338
