Another shooting

In as much as a shooting can be a good thing, this one was. The woman (who was lawfully carrying) shot the man (a convicted felon) who was shooting at a crowd of people attending a birthday/graduation party. She's not being charged with any crimes. Quick summary: criminal (felon in possession of firearm) is stopped mid-assault by a woman obeying the laws and carrying legally. She was prepared to defend herself and others, she was not seeking out an opportunity to commit violent acts.

Thanks for posting this.

Won't hear much about it on mainstream media but Musk is giving it some air time.

Heroine, no doubt. Hopefully she got him before he killed anyone. That story is pretty short on detail.

I couldn't find the press release I listened to yesterday about it, but no injuries of anyone other than the perpetrator, was stated by the police chief. It was a local Charleston WV channel if I find it I'll post it.

That is great news. I really hope this gets some press beyond local. I’m doubtful.

It made the BBC, which is international. However, it will not get the repetitive, beat a dead horse, focus and as such far fewer people will hear about it.

It is also interesting because you can see a microcosm of this on Rokslide. The thread about the TX shooting has hundreds of posts and there is at least one person on here considering homeschooling because of it. This thread has few posts and no one (at least that I've noticed) is discussing changing lifestyle/behavior over it. Yet, why not? No one inspired to carry more frequently from this?

I already carry every day and like living where it’s not considered abnormal. I suspect that those who don’t carry are probably not inclined to start for any reason. Just a guess. I like your point though… no posts about changing things?

Back around 2012 my aunt-in-laws sister fought off a juvenal brown bear in Fairbanks. She was always anti-gun and anti-gun ownership. However, the day after that happened, she bought a handgun.

I think the biggest difference in the 2 is the one was a soft target where "law abiding citizens" are forced to remain unarmed while on school grounds. We can all agree change needs to happen here, though we can't agree on what that change looks like.

The other was a public area, WV is a constitutional carry state, over half of the state carries everyday. WV is also a stand your ground state, no duty to retreat and this woman did what needed to be done. Unfortunately it doesn't fit the MSM narrative so it won't get the publicity like the others.

Unfortunately fear sells, this doesn't.

I don't carry, but this summer I'm looking at some tactical training and plan on incorporating a pistol into my daily attire.
Good, everyone should go through training, not just as a one off either. I'll add though, if you are going to carry a gun you should be carrying a ifak as well. Also you should seek medical training, even a red cross stop the bleed course is a good place to start.

I don't have much for recommendations in Wyoming for training, check out WPSN John Lovell does a good deal of traveling courses may have one in your area also look into tactical response.

While those were both excellent courses and the cadre was great my favorite instructor I've been to is Reid henrichs, heck of a drive to Tennessee from Wyoming though well worth it IMO.
