I had one big bear inside of 30 yards last night for 7 minutes. No shot. Walleye fishing is crazy.

UNBELIEVABLE day on the water fishing. Bear hunting wasn’t terrible either. More pics and story tomorrow.

Blood on the ground last night. Fish in the boat this morning. It’s been an unbelievable trip so far!

Back home. Literally just got home. Sorry for the MIA. We had some storms run through earlier in the week that knocked out the WiFi and then things got hectic. I left Canada early morning, got home and unpacked, repacked, and was back on the road in 90 minutes. Headed to Southern WI to give a seminar and attend the BHA state rendezvous. I’ll get back online and update how the hunt finished out tomorrow.

Weather was ridiculous hot. Upper 80's, full sun, no wind, and lots of bugs. Camp usually has hunters headed to treestands at noon. Shooting light until near 10:00 pm, made for some really long uncomfortablesits. At supper after day 1 hunt we all decided that we would either go in later in the day, or turn it into a fishing only trip. Our guide was very adamant that the bears needed to be baited at the same time, and pushed for us to leave at 12 again on day 2........after the morning of fishing on day 2, which was absolutely stellar, it was obvious to him we were serious :) We didn't leave until 2 the following days :) This still worked out fine as most bears were not active until after 6pm.

Alright more bear recap. Day 2 Larry put our first bear on the board. Did I mention the fishing was crazy?? Between the heat and the fishing Brian and I were antsy. Chuck and Larry were ready to check out some secret smallmouth and lake trout areas. We couldn’t do this until the bear tags were full though. This nice boar came in about 6:25 on night #3. Iron Will V100 #2 of the trip was sent and bear #2 of the trip was dead 20 yards from the shot.

Here is a pic of the off side shoulder of Brian’s bear. V100. That shoulder was garbage. Shattered and fragmented bone everywhere along with total bloodshot. This head is still razor sharp after passing through the bear and then having to be dug out of a log. These were my heads. I never got them back lol. These guys are believers after seeing the devastation and edge retention.

Outside of someone who only hunts tower stands or groundblinds, I fail to see where this has much application for whitetail hunters. To paint with a broad brush, public land hunters are typically looking for light compact minimalist gear whereas the private land guy may be apt to carry more stuff. The difference is the private ground hunter is more times than not driving to within close walking distance where "packing in" is a non-issue. The public land hunter though may be covering some distance and needs functionality for gear, stand and packing game out. If the market target here is the private land guy to carry his stuff a few hundred yards in a really nice pack, this is a homerun.

To my knowledge, nobody has really built a true whitetail system for the public land guy. Maybe one of these days before I am too dang old to climb trees.

I’m curious what you would want in a Public Land WT pack that Kifaru, Exo, SG, MR, or SO doesn’t offer? What is so special about whitetail hunting that one of their bags/frames doesn’t cover?
