Fellow hunters,

I am planning my western hunting adventures for this year. Bear and Mule deer in Idaho and Elk in Colorado. Bear is a solo spring trip. Mule deer is TBD. Colorado Elk will be with 2 or 3 other hunters.

This is my gear list for pretty much every trip. I want to stay as light and simple as possible. What am I missing? Is there anything I don't need to bring?

Thanks in advance.

*** EDIT: trip duration is 3-7 days ***

Duration of trip would help. I don't see but wipe, bring 3 different ways to start a fire. If bring a spare headlamp as well.

Sleeping pad?
Map,gpas, compass?

Thank you for the reply.

Trip duration would be 3-7days.

I will be adding GPS + compass + map, sleeping pad, 2x alternate fire starters, and spare headlamp.

yup, butt wipes are a necessity, I will add that to my hygiene kit.

Just a few more things to pack . . .

I don't think you need the separate survival knife and fishing line, hooks. And there's no way I'd fit seven days in that 3200 pack. I must bring way too much stuff.

I'm still learning the ropes of backpack hunting, but if you're looking to shed some weight you could leave the rifle cover behind along with the extra knife and fishing kit. You also don't list your insulation layers(that I can see), but I have definitely over packed on those in the past.

Also, love the pictures, hoping to get out in the next week or two myself for a spring scouting trip.
