anniversary trip out west

So in August my wife and I are doing an anniversary trip out west. We currently live in Virginia, and we are planning to fly probably into Phoenix, drive to the Grand Canyon, then keep going north to Zion national park.

Those two spots by themselves will probably be epic enough, but I thought it would be worth asking on here about a cool off-the-beaten-path spot to check out. I see on youtube people hiking off trail and finding old mining camps or Indian petroglyphs. I'm not asking for your secret elk honey hole; if you have any suggestions for a hike that we could do that probably wouldn't come up in a google search, I would really appreciate the intel. I am not a youtuber or a social media poster, and I will not blow up your spot. Thanks in advance.

Look into flying to Las Vegas instead. If you end up in Zion it’s a lot closer to Las Vegas than Phoenix. You Bryce Canyon is another hiking spot. Look at Kanab Utah for a place to stay and drive to spots.
