I would like to preface this by saying I have been on the hunt for the best vertical grip carbon stock over the last few years. I have tried numerous stocks, chassis from the HNT 26 to the element 4.0 to no avail with the latest being the altitude from pure precision. Meh.

I want your objective opinions on the best available stock, and if you currently use it, what sets it apart from the others you’ve used. Thanks.

Manners PH is probably my favorite as far as design and features but can’t say the look of it is my favorite. AG Alpine Hunter is a close second. Tried a chassis a couple times now and as much as I like the idea on paper it just doesn’t work for me and am more accurate with a more “traditional” stock

I have a Stocky’s VG Hunter and paid I think $300ish on sale. It is better than I had even anticipated and my hopes were high. I would definitely recommend it especially at a cheaper price than some of the other similar stocks. I strongly considered Manners, Pure Precision, and McMillan as well. I am sure if you are willing to pay extra you will be happy with any of these manufacturers as well.

I agree. Manners PH with their mini chassis system is perfect as far as I’m concerned. It is plug and play and suits all of my needs. I love the built in ARCA, pic and flush cups too. Very well designed and executed stock.

These new McMillans designed by my gunsmith have been my favorite by far. Integrated pic/arca up front. Comb and recoil pad above bore line. Shortened trigger reach. Slightly tapered toe line to a certain point for easy height adjusting with a hard rear bag at the range, but then it flattens out for a good distance for when using a squishy bag for straighter line recoil. The grip angle is excellent as well. I’ve shot behind quite a few stocks and this is the top for sure for me. He’s got like 30 builds on the books utilizing them as they show up, and then he’s going to sell them just as a component.

Cost?

Hate to be a fanboy but I really like the rokstock. The grip, in my opinion, is just perfect. Feels very natural. I also like the recoil impulse and lack of muzzle rise. Previously had a couple of the alterra stocks which I liked, until getting the rokstock and realizing how nice the short trigger reach is for a neutral, torque free grip and overall rifle control.

I’ve shot the stockys as well and it’s a solid stock if you don’t like the cost/wait on a rokstock. Prefer the rokstock by a solid margin though.

Sporter weight is the RokStok.

Light weight is the CF Versa from Echelon.

The reduced muzzle rise, short trigger reach, and negative comb are what I like most about them. The ability to stay on target, even off hand at shorter range with a 6x scope, really stands out to me. Shooting at targets it's easy to see and what I expected. I didn't expect it to be so obvious when hunting as detailed above.

Really like my foundation revelation. My one complaint is its weight, but currently like it enough to deal with it. They have a lighter weight stock but that moved the reach for the trigger about .25”. Small hands and short fingers and while I can shoot OK with other stocks the revelation just fits. Before that had a manners MCS which I liked except the trigger distance which was not made for small hands. Currently have an XLR 4.0 as well, but likely going to sell it as I don’t like it as much as the foundation.

I also prefer the revelation but it’s heavy. That’s why I recommended the manners.

I have mine around 12lbs but I’m in CA so no silencer. Can drop a little but more when I finally get my pencil barrel on it.

Ever manners I’ve ever tried has too longer of a reach for the trigger. Frustrating. How’s it compare to the revelation?

The reach is little longer on the manners I have small hands but it doesn’t bother me that I notice I currently have the night stalker. But plan on getting an lrh I had a ph for a while but wanted an adjustable comb.

I don't have it in hand yet but based on what I have handled and the design aspects, I'm very impatiently waiting for my McMillan Mountain Tracker LR to show up. I know they get some hate on here but I also really like the AG Alpine Hunter.

I'm a rokstok fan. I THINK id prefer a little less slope on the comb but other than that and general stockys mediocre build quality, it's tough to beat. Peak44 Bastion seems nice too, feels nice on the weatherbys i've fondled at scheels but haven't shot one or even been able to put finger on trigger due to trigger locks at gun store.

Going to be subjective since everyone is built differently.

I personally enjoy the Manners PH. Has good trigger reach, and I find the grip very natural with a good thumb rest.
Good point, maybe less in terms of comfort and more in terms of overall fit & finish, recoil impulse, weight, etc

im between the rokstock and peak44 bastion at the moment, I like the performance offered in the rokstock for the cost, it’s just a matter of actually getting one. Weight is a little on the heavier side but seemingly worth it. The bastion is intriguing, seems to be a top 3 for popularity and performance - recoil impulse seems nice according to shooters and is a solid 5 ounces lighter, just more expensive. Hard decision.
