Ammo Vendors No Sales Tax

I've purchased a few items recently that don't require sales tax to out-of-state purchasers. Thermal optics from Texas vendors, a tripod from an Indiana vendor, etc.

Are there any notable ammo vendors that don't charge sales tax? (Specifically to WA). Imagine it would be tough (maybe impossible) for Ammoseek to have a filter for that, but it would be sweet.

Its not dependent on where they ship from, its dependent on whether the individual company has reached the threshhold of sales$ or quantity of orders to a given state to have reached nexus. Most states have a reg something like “$100,000 in sales OR 200 orders within a calendar year” in order to require that an online retailer collect and pay sales tax. So you’re going to be looking for small, relatively unknown retailers.

Exactly. Look hard enough and you can almost always find the best deal online with (1) no sales tax charge and (2) no shipping from smaller companies. But to find those you can't use Google for your searches, you won't get the full set of options. Use a better search engine for better results.

We're pretty well-versed on this in Commifornia given the taxes you would otherwise pay. Velocity Ammo, Outdoor Limited, and Shooting Surplus are my three favorites. Velocity and Outdoor don't charge shipping over $200, Shooting Surplus is nominal. Will advise that they don't ship at Amazon Prime speeds but I had my orders within a week from all three. If they ship to CA FFL03/COE holders, I'm sure they'll ship to you.

Nice that Velocity and Outdoor Limited have a State Sales Tax page that lists the status for each State. Unfortunately, they're both charging sales tax in WA for me.

Don't see any kind of confirmation on Shooting Surplus' site.

De Leon has a very competitive price on what I'm looking for, plenty in stock and reasonable shipping...that may be the move.

Do you have a better suggestion for a search engine that gets around this? DuckDuckGo?

https://ammoseek.com/ is good for finding stuff, but shipping scores just sort of work.
https://www.bulkcheapammo.com/ has an 'estimate shipping' function that works pretty well.

Neither have a "Charges Sales Tax - Yes/No" filter or anything that indicates what state the ammo is sold in/shipped from. I'd rather pay $20 for shipping, $0 sales tax than $0 for shipping, $50 sales tax.

@SteveAndTheCrigBoys
Ammovan.com does not charge sales tax outside of Colorado.

Awesome, appreciate it! Add CO to the (potential) list.

I've also been finding that Ammoseek doesn't really include all vendors out there...500 rounds of 108 ELD-M at De Leon came out to $1.77/ea w/ shipping (thanks to no sales tax). They don't show up in Ammoseek. GunMagWarehouse, which does and was lowest at >6 shipping score, comes out to $1.87/ea for 500.

Edit: checked again this morning and De Leon is now showing up on Ammoseek...weird.

If an ammo vendor doesn't meet economic nexus in a state they won't collect a sales tax if their home state doesn't collect a GRT.

If they're required to pay a GRT in their state, they'll charge a sales tax. They may just not show it on your receipt and roll it up into their price.
