I thought it was ok, wife is watching it now. I got tired of the primary actress (the mom) always screaming and not listening to anyone. Well worth a watch compared to modern tv shows like NCIS Fargo.

I just finished it up and enjoyed it. The resolution of the "Brother Pratt" storyline really impressed me. I like when a movie does that to me. As long as I was just watching for entertainment, I was entertained.

Horizon was complete garbage. I felt like I was watching an Adam Sandler movie. Costner hit his high point with dances with wolves or field of dreams, and then has been slowly circling the drain with Sandler ever since. I think Horizon sealed the deal.

As to American Primeval..... Bridger didn't even occupy the fort in 1857. The Mormons took over the fort around 1853-4 and supposedly bought itin 1855 but Bridger claimed they didn't buy it. The Mormons occupied the fort until 1857 when they abandoned it because Bridger leased it to the US and the military was on their way there, so they burned it to prevent the military from using it. Bridger was on scouting/guiding expeditions through most of 1856-1858. So, their whole storyline sucks.

But..... Why the heck didn't they include an Orrin Porter Rockwell character? That dude was a crazy personal hitman for Young with superpowers of being bullet proof. He would have been great for entertainment value.

John Wick dreams of being Porter Rockwell.

I’ve always been interested in early American history and read a book about Porter Rockwell once though I can’t remember the title of the book. He was an American bad a** for sure. Won all kinds of shooting competitions and was even accused of trying to kill Governor Boggs of MO who placed an extermination order on any member of the LDS faith.

I would suggest chiming when Ken Burns does a documentary. This was fiction.

The Shoshone bows probably weren't launching arrows at speeds depicted in the film but damn it was exciting. Shoshone did make a few horn bows. I saw nothing but straight limbed wood bows

I agree, Rockwell would be a good character to include. The character Bill Hickman used in this show, could be considered a close second. He was a body guard for both Smith and Young, associated with the Danites. As always, the accuracy of history varies, but his history in the area is interesting as well.

If a person is watching this show as history, it'll at least send them to do research.

Agreed. It just really really erks me when I watch something based on history I'm interested in and it's twisted around a lot to make it more entertaining.

That said, I was entertained, but he over the topness of it was a little tiresome
