Thinking about gambling on a cheapo 50cc dirtbike for my 6yo. I have a Honda 110crf 4stroke but it's too big for him. Anyone have and experiences to share?

Have you thought of trading? There is almost certainly someone nearby with a 50 that their kid outgrew.

My kid rode on one at a buddies last night.

The kid that "owns" it is 7 and thin. He looked perfect on it.

My 9yo looked a little big and awkward on it but the other dad said he rides it sometimes so maybe my kid was just looking awkward from lack of experience.

My 6 year old wouldn't get on the thing. I'm OK with that...

Both my kids have 50CC and 80CC ATV's and we're way more comfortable with those but the dirt bike looked like a lot of fun.

Don't expect too much. It works but it's a little cheesy on power and exhaust. I'm pretty sure it's a Chinese chainsaw motor. The rider has to move their leg so you can access and start it with the pull chain and then it's go time. My 9yo figured out how to start it for the 7yo by the end of the evening.

Im keeping it, I bought it brand new and it's a lot of fun, I know my kid will enjoy it when he's a little bigger.

I bought a cheap one for my son, wanted a used Honda or similar but wasn't able to locate one. I believe ours is an X-Pro Hawk or something. It's loud, but it runs, and he enjoys it.

Definitely a case of you get what you pay for, so don't expect much.

I don't have high expectations. I've been looking at used on FB but everything sells fast, is junk, or is too far away

Is it 2stroke or 4?

Yamaha TTR90 or a CRF70 might be what you're looking for. The Chinese crap from amazon are total junk, and as you've said, clean Japanese bikes that are priced right sell almost instantly so you're not going to lose much on it. You can also go older on the Hondas to when they were called XR, parts are exactly the same.
