Alternative to Patagonia Tropic comfort hoody

Last summer I picked up a Patagonia tropic comfort hoody for around town and casual hikes. Long story short, I love almost everything about it. The fit is perfectly relaxed to allow a ton of air flow, function is amazing, and the fabric and overall quality are both perfect. It literally feels like an air conditioned shirt.

My only complaint is that I can’t seem to find one in much of a muted earth tone for bowhunting. The one I own is a super light heathered grey/brown, but it is unnaturally light and may as well be white. I’ve found one in a more vibrant green, but is a little too vibrant for my preferences.

So, I’m on the hunt for other options, I bought a KUIU Gila, but I am returning it because I don’t like the fit or the material (heavier than the Patagonia), especially now being used to the awesome fit and function of the tropic comfort. The KUIU Gila also just felt poorly constructed to me, which opens a whole other conversation on KUIU that is for another thread (last couple items from them have been pretty underwhelming).

I don’t really want to turn this into a debate on my color preferences. Whether you agree with them or not, I have my mind made up on what I am willing to tolerate color and/or camo-wise, and a lot of it has to do with the placebo confidence that comes with feeling “extra” stealthy.

I don’t need a hunting specific brand or camo, but I am hoping for an earthy, muted tan, brown, or gray or green.

I’m looking for an equal or better functioning, synthetic sun hoody, with similar material and fit. If you’ve worn a Patagonia tropic comfort, you know exactly the high threshold I’m looking for.

What’s out there?

Anyone tried dying any of their synthetics??

Northface used to make a similar hoody and it came in tan, grey, black, and orange colors. I’m partial to orange and owned one. Not sure what the model of it was but that thing was clutch in warm weather.

Simms solarflex in Riparian camo may do the trick. Seems like they may have quit making them in camo but I’ve been trying to find one.

thats interesting i saw this thread and immediately thought about the kuiu gila. i hated the fit of the hood and how it seemed a half size too big but love the fabric and find it very comfortable for hunting and any other beach activity for hawaii. I just picked up a SG enduro hoodie and havent put it through the paces yet but on feel its not as comfortable as the gila and fabric is a touch thicker than the gila. for comparison my go to base layer hoodie for last few years has been a sitka core lightweight hoodie, but imo the fabric isnt as comfy as the gila, but the fit and function is a lot better but it also is more expensive.
