I have a r700 w 18” HCA Carbon Heavy profile.

Looking for a good factory load.

try hornady factory 168 eldm loads, have one shooting the whitebox match very well, that one really likes 180 fusion also but I don't like the runny factor from fusions, have another that really likes 165 fusions, you'll have to just make a list of what you want to use and grab them and test em against each other on a range day, you'll find likely multiple options that will make you happy for your goals, neither of mine like cx stuff or the 178 eld-x either, did ok with federal blue box 150's as 3rd best of what I checked

Thanks with 18" barrel i feel like 165-168 is my heaviest option. I have some Federal Trophy bonded 165 and tactical bonded 168 it shoots well. Want something that expands more for whitetail and hogs

Loaded up 25 of these 175 grain Federal Edge TLRs last night over some Varget. These were the predecessor to the Terminal Ascent. I’ve had good accuracy from them in the past but the CBTO measurements have .012 variance in the same box of bullets. Definitely a sleek, high BC bullet.

A couple months ago I took out a Remington 5r out for the first time in years. Shot 20 rounds of Black Hills 168 match into small 5 round groups. I had forgotten what a pleasure this rifle was to shoot. When I purchased this rifle 20 years ago I did pretty extensive testing and it shot everything sub moa. That’s part of the beauty of the 308 not near as picky as other cartridges.
I am seriously considering putting this rifle in a rock stock and making a hunting rifle out of it.
