All new Burris Fullfield 2025

I don't believe they plan on dropping the Droptine line. They actually have the Fullfield E1 back on the website too. It was gone right after the new Fullfield line was introduced, but's back on there.

Oh interesting.

Wonder if the construction (internal I mean) is that much different or one is pretty much the other?

The compactness, dials and illumination are something new, anyway. But I found the Droptine already had really good glass for the price and a forgiving eyebox

According to Burris, exterior looks are all that's really different between the Droptine, the Fullfield E1 and the Fullfield II. Glass and internals are the same. Obviously, the ocular housing on the Fullfield II is a different design as well. The Droptine is probably the best value for the dollar in a scope today.

There’s a lot of options in this lineup. Love Burris, it is the brand that sits on the highest number of my rifles. Always been solid and I have faith in them. For a set and forget scope, the Fullfields really don’t have a price point competitor. With all that said, I wouldn’t trust this line to dial reliably or with longevity, and why does Burris continue, after 20 years+, continue to make such short bodied scopes? Drives me nuts lol.

Why’s that?
Because this line, at this price point, weren’t built to dial. I would not trust the components for longevity in this price class. I love Burris, and this line, just not as dialing scopes. Hopefully they rock and I look like an idiot.

Sounds nice...Better than which Vx, Andouille?

Not hard to get behind/not too narrow of an eyebox/window?
Compared to a VX-Freedom 2-7x33 Hunt-Plex, which costs $110 more and has mushy plastic turrets. At max zoom my eye is about 3.5" away from objective with a full view of the reticle, so I consider that reasonable eye relief, with the caveat that I have it on a 22lr where recoil is never a concern. Field of view seems quite large. Friend of mine just bought the 3-12x42 non-illuminated but hasn't shot it yet on his 6.5CM.

I would spend the small bit of extra cash for the new Fullfield (made in Phillipines) if the Droptine is made in China.

oh! thats a pretty good endorsement. Had that model of Leupold not long ago but sold it along with the rifle it was on.

This is going on a 223 and/or 7.62x39 so not worried about the recoil or short tube/small mounting length.

The Droptine is also made inn the Philippines :) Someone else saying the glass was not good really concerned me but if its as good or better than the Vx Freedom, I'm just fine with it.

Subjectively, it's a "fairly fine" reticle for a MOA scope in the 2-8x at full zoom is for new enough to shoot 1" groups at 50yds with my 22lr, which I consider a good result. The specs at https://www.burrisoptics.com/reticles/ballistic-e3 suggest that the cross hair is about 0.2moa thick. Glass clarity is better than the pricier Leupold VX 2-7 I had previously.
Cool. I may order a second one, for a 22 squirrel rifle. That illuminated X should be great for squirrels in dim light.

Thanks for this thread. It's been very helpful. I have a vortex 2-10x44 vipers hs that I got for a stupid good price, but would like an illuminated scope for hunting here in the thick dark north eastern woods. I'm going to order the 2.5-10 version and give it a try. It's hard to argue the price.

Hey just incase anyone is interested. Here is the 2.5-10 burris vs a leupold 2-7 and a vortex 2.5-10x44 viper hs.

I also want to note on burris's site, the 2.5-10 with illumination is listed with "exposed advanced" turrets, while the duplex version is capped. The scope is received is capped, e3 reticle and illuminated. I honestly prefer caps for my use so it works out better, but something needs to be corrected so people know what they are buying. I emailed burris's customer service.

I got the 2.5-10 this week. I like it but there are quirks.
- the E3 reticle is very nice but the illumination is not visible in daylight
-the E3 is actually etched in the top of the glass
- scope is listed as 42mm but actually measures 52mm; I had to order higher rings
- mounting is difficult due to the 50 mm bell and narrow tube spacing. No go unless you are using a rail
- fov is very good, and glass is just fine. Adjustments seemed good but I'm not going to dial with this scope. Reticle is good for my needs.

I like it and am going to order another for a 22lr. Or may get the 2-8x35 (actually 44mm 🤔)

Not really a quirk, the objective tube has to be larger than the glass. The manual typically has the actual outer diameter.
The scope is listed as 2.5-10x42 but physically it is 52mm. You don't receive a manual until purchasing and I assumed the specs were accurate in the description. Pretty quirky to me.

For future reference it’s usually downloadable on the website too.

I get it. I just took them at their word when I placed the backorder. Was surprised when it would not mount up in low rings. You have to admit 10 mm is a big discrepancy.

Btw the 2-8x35 is actually a 44mm objective.

I have mine mounted on a ruger american rifle. And the meduims "could" work. But since it has short eye relief i needed to slide it back and at that point the objective was touching the rail.

I ended up going with a 1.26" centerline set of rings. My rifle is in an ultradyne chasis, so those rings worked really well getting my cheek weld in the right spot.

I do wish they lengthened the scope a bit for mounting ease and added eye relief.

As far as I know, every scope maker lists both the outside diameter and objective lense dimensions.

The number used in the name of the scope is the lens diameter.

I'm not try to argue but the lens ain't 42mm. If it was, the scope tube would be be 10 mm thick!

You got some bad info. It definitely has a zero stop and says WIND 12X at the top of the vertical line. Heres a few quick pics. Disregard the image quality thru the scope, these new iPhones are a pain in the ass to focus thru optics. It was on 3x in the picture, trees about 200y away. This is mounted on a vanguard short action, it’s my throw around pig and small game gun so it’ll definitely get tested for zero retention.
Just curious, but what rings are those?
