All lightweight rifles for mountain hunting suggestions

Kimber 84M. Still my favorite hunting after many years.

I’ve had a few Tikkas but they never gelled with me. Also, they feel rather large and heavy compared to the Kimber.

Get something you appreciate, or get something you dont mind banging up. If i was starting out i would go get a glenfield model a for $450 in 270 win. Light enough to carry easy, inexpensive enough not to worry too much about it.
I don't worry bout any of em now. $250 to $5k.
Run em like you stole em or sell em.

My "mountain rifle" gets used for even day hunts close to home. I have a Tikka T3x compact in 7mm-08. I put a Bell and Carlson stock on it and glass bedded it with Devcon 10110. Works a lot nicer with the slight weight increase from the new stock (7oz.) ended up at 7.5 pounds scoped with a Burris FF2 with ballistic plex. With the new stock muzzle jump has been mostly eliminated. The recoil pad is also noticably better.
