All lightweight rifles for mountain hunting suggestions

Well I must admit I have absolutely no clue as to what your talking about. Little background grew up hunting in the Northeast where it was a 30.30 .243. Lever actions or a 30.06 military surplus bolt action excellent rifle never failed to put game on the table just so damn heavy. Im almost 60 now so lighter the better I will have to do some research on what your referring to. Thanks for the info.
A lot of these guys think it takes a high bc long range competition cartridge to kill a deer at 60 yards. Most of them get confused when you talk about 30 30 or 243 or lever actions.

Are you looking to “build a rifle” or buy a factory rifle? What is your all in budget with rings and optic?
Kind of the same thing with these guys.

Just buy a Tikka in 6.5 or 6 Creed. There are lots more important characteristics for a mountain hunting rifle than the overall weight.

Here ya go. Lightweight mountain rifle, 77 TMKs will kill any big game in the US.
You said “build” a rifle so I assumed you were looking for a custom build. I listed parts that I would use for an ultralight rifle in a cartridge I would use on all NA game.
With the info you’ve provided, I’d say all you need is a tikka in 6.5 creedmoor, or whatever cartridge you like, smaller the better. Put a fixed 6x swfa on it. Or splurge and put trijicon or nightforce.

Not really. The thread was started with a question on building a lightweight rifle. To make a recommendation you need to know if the person means actually building a rifle or if he is calling swapping out stocks building a rifle. If he is actually talking about building a rifle the budget is a very good question.

I live in BC and am building a 6 creed 20” benchmark, manners PHA, defiance action, I wouldn’t be scared of shooting a moose or elk with a 6creed. A lot of big game has been taken with the 243 caliber
