When do you do them? Looking at States around OH, PA, NY, NJ. I personally struggle to do them but gonna try harder this year. Successful stories and time of day would be helpful.

Usually if I do one it’s around this time of year, to maybe the next couple of weekends for bow season. Usually I do two 4 hour sits for gun season.

Here in northern PA I think the best chance of success is within the next two weeks though.

Seems like I’ve only killed a couple that were from longer sits; most still are within 15 minutes of legal light for me and where I hunt.

Retired from whitetail hunting, but I experimented with this a good bit during the rut, rainy days as well as on draw hunts on federal land where deer hunting wasn't otherwise permitted. On the cases from the later examples, I'd often kill deer at the end of the morning shift, midday, and just before the evening shift hours as deer would move around the flood of pressure.

For the rut, since mid morning and mid day chasing is so common, I tried doing 9AM to dark sits for awhile as that captured the prime time hours for rut behavior and allowed me to get more rest for back to back full days. That really didn't jive with me though and I settled in on hunting early morning until mid afternoon, around 3 PM. Getting out of the woods early, eating dinner at normal hours and going to bed early worked better for me and allowed me to stay motivated for putting as much time in a tree as possible.

Rainy days are another good time to be in the woods mid day. If its not raining too hard or if you have multiple fronts moving through, you'll often see midday movement. I killed some big bucks outside of the rut on all day sits in the rain.

That being said, you might not follow my advice as I completely burned myself out on whitetail hunting.

If I plan to hunt both morning and evening for that day I’ll sit all day. Usually the whole month of November (Tennessee) I’ll sit all day unless my schedule don’t allow.

I am not typically patient enough to do it. Probably why I haven't stand hunted in ten years. Going to give it a try again in a few weeks though. I'll sit all day all weekend. As long as there is activity around it should be ok.

In my AO if it's not pre-rut or rut you're probably wasting your time with a morning sit, definitely wasting your time for all day sit and you should absolutely be sitting 1 hour before sunset (or don't bother you're just spooking deer if you missed your start time); unless it's really windy then don't bother at all

During pre-rut and rut there is activity mid to late morning and then its dead again until 1 hour before sunset.

I only do evening sits local but if I was travelling, I'd probably sit all day.

I will sit all day during the rut and also during the rifle season in WI.

A few years ago the only time I saw deer during a stretch of all day sits were bucks cruising through at noon, so that cemented it for me.

The woods get busy during rifle season at home in WI and there are a few stands I have set specifically to capitalize on other hunters entering/exiting or doing drives on neighboring properties. I’ve had success in the 1000-1400 window with guys bumping deer. Tends to work better earlier during the season (it’s only 9 days) before neighbors start spending more time at a bar stool than a stand.

I havent found sitting all day in one spot to be productive. I feel my spots i have good morning spots till mid day and decent evening but both areas are in the same spots.

I hunt NJ primarily, woods are smaller compared to other states, It's mental, if you can stay longer in the stand, you get 4 extra movement periods of people moving and bumping deer.
Guys who come in late, then leaving at 9-10am. Then guys coming in the woods at 1-2pm and leaving early at sundown.

If actions hot, i'll stay all day, otherwise if you arent seeing stuff, might not be worth staying all day. Do a mid day scout loop sometimes.

I used to do more all day sits than I do now, but I still do them. Usually in that 11/5-11/12 range. It can be feast or famine. Some days you'll sit there questioning your sanity when you don't see a deer from 9-3. When it's right though, action can be awesome. I've killed most of my best bucks between noon and 2.

During the peak of the rut I'd almost rather hunt from 9am til dark, as opposed to a morning and evening sit.

We often do all day sits - go in predawn and leave after dark. Some days the only deer we see are around noon or 1-2 pm.

I do it as much as possible. Even if the deer aren't moving, there isn't much better places to be than in the woods.

I've killed a pile of bucks between 10am - 1pm. The rest in the first/last 30 minutes of light.

All day…never…midday a lot and I have killed many good bucks 10-2. Anytime from here on out can be good if it’s good weather.
