Last time I was in unit 13, there were moose everywhere, one was even outside my tent one night. We must have seen 30 of them on our hike in. I was also surprised how high up in the mountains I was seeing them.

I've oftentimes seen them at 5,000 and even as high as 6,000. A big interior bear killed a cow and her calf in the spring of 2023, at 5,500.
