Very cool hunt! This is on my to-do list in the next few years. How big were the bears? What did you think of the outfitter? Thanks for posting.

The bears were in the 5 & 1/2' to 6' range. They had big Ole heads though. I'll have to measure my hide when I get home. It wasn't a guided hunt, the outfitter just took us out to an island and left us a skiff to use. He was awesome.

Awesome, glad you had a great trip. I used to spend every spring/summer weekend out in the sound, and even though I was able to take some good bears, my favorite part was always pulling up a full pot of spot shrimp. Best shrimp a person will ever eat!!!

After we landed in Valdez we had a great dinner and few beers. We got up early the next morning and went to the range to check zero

We loaded up the big boat and headed out of the harbor

We loaded up the skiff and shuttled our gear to the island we were camping on

That evening we loaded up cruised into the bay we were going to hunt. It wasnt 30 minutes and Trav picked out this boar feeding in a little inlet. The wind was good and the terrain was PERFECT for a bow shot. Paul slipped in and was able to get an arrow in him at 25 yards. The bear ran 10 yards and died.

The next morning we got up and went and checked the shrimp pots we set out in the head of the bay.

We got back to camp and had an amazing lunch! We did this everyday!

That night the weather was pretty crappy. We decided to go check out a different bay. After a few hours of not seeing anything, we headed back to the bay by camp. As we motored in slowly I spotted a black spot in the very back of the bay against the alders. We closed the distance and I was able to get a shot on him at 225 yards right before he went back into the thick cover. The bear was dead 30 yards from where I shot.

As we skinned him we found he been getting his ass kicked by another bear! The cuts in the leg were crazy!

I loaded the entire bear in my AMR and hiked him back to the boat. Talk about heavy!

The next day at camp.

We hunted and fished for the remainder of the week. We never did turn up another bear to Trav to shoot. It was an amazing trip that we will never forget

Nice work! I'm glad you guys got to see PWS on at least one nice day. There's no place quite like it.
