Alaska Permits

I'm doing my moose area recon in unit 13 via packraft in June! Not that my current area there isn't productive...but more knowledge of areas the better. Hope you find a sweet area with lots of moose and very little pressure.

There won't be much pressure north of the road after the first mile. So many cows last few years that I think there must be something back in there.

You'd be surprised...if there is a water way there is folks lining canoes up it!

Donated the usual $120 between the wife and I. Goats, sheep, moose and bison! Good luck to all, mine hasn't been that great but it's part of the game!

You mean there are more permits than DS102, DS103, DS203 and DS204? I thought I could only choose 3 out of those 4 :D

Sheep, goats, bou, moose, and bison for me. An $80 donation, but it goes to a good cause right?

This is a pretty rad thread bro.

I applied for sheep, goat, and bou. Looking forward to be up there for 2 weeks this fall. (power of positive thinking)

Did my annual donation to ADF&G too. I have one of the worst track records for the draw of anyone I know. Two in 21 years and they were not anything cool like bison or TMA. Oh we'll maybe next year!

I guess it doesn't matter because I'll still get out sheep and moose hunting even if I don't draw but I would love to hunt bison or muskox someday.

I havent drawn a sheep tag in 11 years. Last tag was Eklutna Lake and incidentally my very first sheep hunt. There was a lot learned on that trip.

On a different note, anyone figure on why it takes ADFG from December to February to bring out draw results when it's all drawn from a computer program?

They are probably all on vacation until Feb!!!!!!!!

I put in for the Archery only Moose hunts and a few "secret" sheep tags... ;) Also did the archery only brown bear one out near Eklutna.. Fingers crossed.... :)

Ketchikan Area Goats, Etolin Elk, Kodiak Bear, Tok sheep, Denali Hwy Bou, and Berners Bay Moose for me. I've got my wife and daughter in for some sweet tags that would logistically pair with one of mine. Good luck everyone who put in. Feb 21 is like a holiday for me this year. I sure enjoy reading the list and seeing what my friends have won. Then bouncing ideas and trying to pull off these amazing hunting opportunities we have in Alaska. I think this year I'm most excited about the prospect of a fall Kodiak bear hunt. I put in for great low odd units and I've never been there. So the adventure level for that one would be high.

put in for my usual dozen. 3 sheep, a couple goat, a caribou, Ft. Rich winter moose, etc. Have put in for 12 permits or more these past two years and have drawn none, not to worried for this year as already have an air taxi (40 Mile) booked for the Wrangells in Aug...

Put in for the typical about 90$. Chitina River Bison is nearly impossible to draw but it would be my dream hunt. There are like 2 permits and more than 450 applying for it.

Total sidetrack, but how is that herd doing? I hunted back up in there in 2008 for sheep and saw plenty of sign, but it was old and I never did see a bison. I hope the herd is doing well.

And the 2014 draw applications begin. Here's to credit card bills out the a$$ until June! LOL

I just put in for Bou, Musk Ox, Bison and Brown Bear.
