There is some tremendous bears on the Ak Pen,,here a few of the dandies!
To take a bear like this takes years of passing up lesser bears or being lucky. A good guide with you doesn't hurt either!

Awesome pics waterrat. I spent my first season on the peninsula this past spring and fell in love with the place. I much prefer the bear hunting down there to Kodiak. I was lucky enough to guide my hunters to two 10 foot bears, one easily making the book. It was a great spring and i am really looking forward to the fall hunts this upcoming season. I know i posted some of these pics in another thread, but here are a few pics of the bears i guided too this past spring.

Incredible. Spring of 16' when the area I'd like to hunt is open I will be there (I hope). Those bears are huge. Nice work you two!

907 You cooned them!!! Interesting area, those brushy hillsides (stinking alders) are a bugger to find a bear in. The skull on that old one is a trophy of a lifetime in it's own right. My wife and I have 525 hunt permits and will be looking pretty hard for The Tank & Schoolbus pretty soon!

waterrat, are your hunts based off of Lake Ilimana? Did Brittingham hunt with you guys when he killed his pig/world record on the lake? I hunted Upper Illiamna on the reservation land back in 2013, absolute beautiful country and awesome trip!

Thanks waterrat, it was a great spring last year. That old bear was the bear of a lifetime for sure, and i was just lucky enough to be the guide on it. He was an old fighter, all scarred up. Looking forward to the fall hunts this year on the peninsula, gonna be a great year.

Nick I will be guideing here on the Lake this fall,, we also have a rural hunt here at the house. It's purpose is to save moose calf's and village problem bears, a few bears that would probably end up as dlp's have been taken but no noticable increase. There is going to be lots of fish this year and with 0 snowpack water levels will probably be a record lows Jim

The ak pen is easier hunting than kodiak in my experience. I go to the ak pen to guide when I want a vacation and some fun hunting. Nice nice bears down there too!!
Fall on the peninsula and spring on kodiak are the optimum times from where I've been.

Sounds like we need a Rokslide group trip to help you solve your problem! ;)
