Alaska moose width thread?

There are a lot of fellow brow tine counters. I wonder how long it will take to remove the better brow tine genes from the pool.

if you can't make any recognizable difference in the gene pool on a whitetail in the midwest, I'm pretty sure we don't have much of a shot on these boys...

Remember, 1/2 of that "browtine gene" comes from the X chromosomes, of which almost none are getting shot

What do you think? 50? Awesome pack out.

Does anyone have a chart they have made that shows 50” out to 6-800 yards with moa

Not sure if I posted my bull in this thread or not. I don’t have one of it prior to me taking it. Happened too quick. Shouldn’t be too hard but feel free to give it a width guess. More practice the better however it’s not the same as seeing it 50-100yds out.

This chart is right on but to make it a little easier and a little more forgiving you can just use 1moa as 1" @ 100yds

100 yds & 50 moa = 1 x 50 = 50"

200 yds & 25 moa = 2 x 25 = 50"

370 yds & 15 moa = 3.7 x 15 = 55.5"

554 yds & 9 moa = 5.54 x 9 moa = 49.86"

Example: fathers moose in 2020

Bull was at 300 yards and I got 19 moa which comes 3 x 19 = 57"
It ended up being 60"

This is funny to me... you ask an engineer for a table/chart and he will make you one, & it will be accurate. Useful?...meh. Good work robinhood.

That's funny... I'm the furthese thing away from an engineer so I gotta make it easy haha

I appreciate you throwing that up I’d really just like it to be a no brainer situation and lead is flying

I don't know how long it would take in years but it happens for sure. The area I hunt is 4 brows and finding a 4 brow tine bull is damn near impossible, 2-3 brow tine bulls are much more common so width is basically the only way of us to tag bulls. Every now and then we come across a 4 brow tine bull but it is very rare. The last bull I shot was a 60"er with 2x2 brows.

He's laid way out there, got to be at least 68-70" bull if not a tad more. Congrats, that's a great bull moose!!

I was thinking 66-68"
