Alaska 2025: Back to the Tundra

Just FYI. I went to Walmart today and they were out of locking tags. I went across the parking lot to Fred Meyer and got the last of theirs. I assume if you are there during the week probably easiest to just go to the Fish and Game office.
Good luck man!! Leave me one or two for next month

@Viking3520 How was your hunt?
I'm in the early stages of trying to figure out how to set up my first AK Caribou hunt. It'll be DIY as I have a friend who's a resident and an accomplished backcountry pilot. My top question for you is how did you get a tag two years in a row? Looking at the draw statistics this seems like nothing short of a miracle! I'm a new member so can't PM yet, but if that's the more appropriate approach, I can wait. Thanks!

Also curious to know how the bow mounted decoy worked! Had mixed experiences and reviews from others with different animals.

I don’t know of any caribou draws outside of a select few areas. They’re almost all harvest tags that you can just walk into ADF&G and pick up. The Porcupine Herd, that I hunt every year, is all HTs

Right on. That’s what I’ve started to learn/understand. My AK friend had (unintentionally) led me to believe that I would need to draw to hunt but I’ve quickly learned otherwise.
Thanks for getting back to me!
