Alarm clock in the backcountry

Either my phone or my watch.

I recently read a book by Ian Frazier that talked about when indians where needing to wake up early, before modern time pieces where common place, they would simply drink a lot of water before going to bed...

I use my GPS. It turns itself on for the alarm to go off or I wait for my buddy to start yelling at me to wake me up.

My dog generally wakes me up, but I have the phone as well

Recently switched from GPS to phone and much prefer phone. Probably becuase i can set 20 different obnoxious alarms to force myself to get up. Also, I have had the GPS alarm not work well a few times.

I use a cheaper Casio watch that has a vibration alarm. It has three of them. I set them to go off within 5 min of each other (i.e. 4, 405, 410). I've never neede anything but the first one but don't want to over sleep. One time I slept too close to the elk and my old alarm (beeping kind) woke up a small group and I heard them trot off one year. Ever since then, I've slept a little farther away and use the vibration alarm.

Which casio did you buy

Ha! Pulled it out of the drawer and guess what? It's a timex expedition! Too long of a day I guess:) has worked great for me. The three alarms let me not worry about sleeping in. I wear it to sleep and it always does the trick. I use it when I go on fishing trips with my wife and kids as well. It wakes you up (and not the kids) and you can get some fishing in before everyone is up.

I use the alarm on my Casio Forester watch w/ lighted face.

I take it off and place it inside my ball cap (within reach of my head), with my headlamp so I can find them in the dark at 0'pee:30. If I keep it on, a lot of time I dont hear it go off because my hand is buried under my make shift pillow (pullout of spare clothes). My Cushe slip'on camp shoes are close at hand as well.

I use my phone as well but like elk fitness said I don't think the loud alarm is the best thing. The vibrating watch sounds really interesting.

I'm going to try and use my fitbit charge. The vibrate function is plenty strong to wake me ... the only downside is that the battery life is shit (2-3 days tops). So for three days, it's fine, any longer I'll have to recharge it.
