Alabama big game hunters?

Good day everyone. So I decided to hit the forums here looking for others who hunt big game such as moose, elk or mule deer but not limited to, that might live in the North Alabama area. I have been a hunter for around 30 years and just over the past few years have gotten into big game hunting. Not has heavy as I would like but I am able to take a trip or two every now and then. I thought it would be great to find others who are serious about big game hunting whether it be by way of DIY or guide service. Maybe I can find a group of trustworthy people that I can learn from and maybe even partake in a few hunts with them. It would also give me the opportunity to learn about new places and possible guide services. I have yet to participate in a DIY so I am really green when it comes to that. Well just holler at me. Thanks PS. I am not excluding white tail either so we can talk about that as well. ha

I’ve got a couple buddies that went to CO last year elk hunting. They’ve got me talked into going next year after I get all my gear situated. Never hunted out of state but talking to them and researching elk, mule deer, and pronghorn makes whitetail hunting seem boring.

I'm not from Alabama, but back a few years ago I was part owner in a business in Huntsville AL. I reside in Michigan, but have a couple former business partners / friends that live in the Huntsville area.
I am a serious hunter mostly whitetail and elk, but I have a moose and caribou hunt on my radar. I have hunted elk for the past 10 years, all except one has been archery DIY hunts in OTC units. I have hunted in CO, ID, WA & MI. I hunt whitetails in Illinois every year on 372 acre lease. It has been my experience that it is difficult to find dedicated serious elk hunters with the same passion I have that are willing to commit early in order to plan a hunt, and then be able to rely on them every year. I prefer back pack style hunting for elk, but have utilized a base camp as well.

I’m not far from you, I live in Albertville. More than likely OTC Archery in SW CO. Right now I’ve got my clothing, bow, optics and a MR Beartooth pack. Still researching what type of sleep system/shelter I want to get.
