With everyone using their own alloys and testing with various cartridges/firing rates, you see how testing to a standard can get really hard (expensive).

I guess 100 rounds as fast as possible in a bolt gun is good enough? I hope so, and I applaud Airlock for having the stones to test it on camera.

Cool day with no breeze, no cover, I'll see mirage on one shot. 2 absolutely. This can gets hot quickly. Ls wild cover is a must!

How limiting is this for target practice in your experience? I get that this suppressor isn't meant for dedicated target shooting, but I still want to practice regularly with my hunting rifle. Low volume, low rate of fire, hanging a steel plate out somewhere and I want to be able to hike around and take 1 to 3 shots per field position. Practicing quick follow-ups. Is this a nonissue or am I going to feel limited by how quickly it heats up?

I'm wondering how the tradeoff works out in reality for people who own this one - are you still able to get reasonable shooting practice with your exact hunting setup?

Yes.

It heats up quicker but also cools quicker. The problem is being over stated in this thread. If you are going to a range and want to take 5-10 shots as fast as you can you are going to get mirage with any suppressor.

I’ll be a first time can owner so no experience other than shooting buddies.

How noticeable is 1 db (128.5 db 7mm can vs 129.5 db 6.5mm can) in the real world? I was considering the 7mm too, but for $75, 1/2” less length, and 1oz less the 6.5 can offers, I’m wondering if 1 db quieter you’re referencing is worth it on a 6.5cm rifle. Curious of people’s thoughts.

The decision between those 2 imho is whether you ever want to shoot 7mm through it or not. If absolutely no then just get the shorter/lighter/cheaper.

If your shooting beyond 1-3 shots with almost any light titanium suppressor is going to create enough mirage to cause issues. This is really dependent on environment as well. A little wind, no big deal, zero wind and a huge temperature gradient, much bigger deal.

I see zero reason to hunt with a suppressor cover. It’s just another piece to soak up moisture and slide, and just isn’t needed for a few shots. That said I don’t shoot at the range without one unless checking zero without a cover on for hunting.

Can’t understand why yall don’t use silicone covers like these I use. I tape the ends also to prevent slipping and hide a little more heat. Cheap and they don’t soak up any moisture.

Yeah, that's been my exact experience with the Diligent LTi. With the way everyone was bringing it up here, I wondered if it was radically worse with the Airlock. Sounds like it's a nonissue for the way I usually shoot.

I bought some of these, but they are so “sticky” (if that makes sense) that every single ounce of dust, dirt, etc sticks to them. Also makes them super hard to get in and out of any scabbard, if you use one. I ended up putting vet tape over them to help but still not exactly what I was looking for. But they were good at covering mirage so I will give them their due credit there.

Iv been busting balls trying to get someone to make a waterproofish cover, basically a scope chaps cover with rubberized material on both the inside and outside. So far nobody has bit. My wife has sewing machine, maybe I should just sew it up

Did you get yours really hot at the range and maybe melt the material? Mine have gotten pretty hot but not smoking or anything. Big fan of them, fit nice and tight so had to roll them on but zero chance of them slipping in any way and they're pretty light. They come in super long too, I cut one to fit one suppressor and the leftover covered another.

Same experience with the hand tightening. And no they weren’t heated up. Some of them are brand new (never even shot) and they are covered with dust and lint and crap like that. Mainly cosmetic but I’m a princess.

Why do you care about the cordura of the scope caps cover getting wet? Its not a sponge like carbon felt.

It’s not but cordura wets out, and I guess I don’t see why the outside can’t be rubberized as well. I don’t see why a couple layers of silicon coated nomex with some nomex thread wouldn’t work.

I’m not worried about it as much for hunting, because I don’t think I’d use one, but no reason something light couldn’t be made.

I’d want to eliminate those as well. I think the scope chaps material with some kind of light weight burn proof cordage that cinches around the rear of the suppressor would work.

I like AG suppressor covers the most, but don’t use them for hunting. Would be nice to not have to check zero with or without a cover.

The LS wild one isn’t terrible either but my same complaint, holds moisture.

How's the ZG stack up against the LTi? Remotely similar, or is the LTi still noticeably quieter?

To me the L Ti is noticeably quieter. Everywhere I shoot someone will come up and ask what my L Ti is because it’s so quiet. Even after a match, multiple RO’s will come up after and tell me that was the quietest can they heard for the weekend and ask for the name of it. I have no doubt ZG could make one quieter in a smaller package if they wanted to though!
