Would you please knock it off. It's obnoxious having threads fill up with your bickering with people. You aren't helping anybody in this thread have a better understanding of what's going on. You regularly come on here and criticize everybody else who's trying to be productive. It comes across poorly to the community. Let it go or do it in a private message.

I’ve got the range set aside for us on Friday night and Saturday morning 9am.

Friday, Nov 14th, 7pm at triple j armory in Littleton, co. This will be indoors. Please be aware of the limitations and don’t be fussy. No one else will be on the range except our group.
I will bring a 17” .223 and 16” 6.5cm along with a TBAC Ultra 5 gen2. I’m going to try and have an OG 6.5 on hand as well.

Big thanks to @DannyB for coordinating with @h2so4 and @sndmn11 and getting a ZG 6.5 for us to mess with tonight in the Denver area.

@h2so4, @grant00, and I were able to partake as well as the shop manager at JJJ Armory in Littleton.

We used 3 rifle hosts. We did full 3 shot comparisons with a 16” Tikka 223 and 20” Tikka 6.5C using the same ammo between cans. We also did a smaller comparison with a 16” Tikka 6.5C.

Cans we compared in the full comparison were:
-TBAC Ultra 5
-ZG 6.5
-OG 6.5
-SiCo Scythe (no it didn’t blow up)
-DD Enticer STi
-DA Nomad LTi
(On the 16” 6.5C we just compared the ZG and OG).

To note, this was in a smaller indoor range. We did take full videos of all three shots on all cans, but in reviewing the footage after the sound of the AC unit was more dominant than the rifle reports and we didn’t feel they did the best job representing how “quiet” the respective cans were.

That said, I think between the four of us listening live we got some good data.

Overall, as with others in this thread, the ZG 6.5 was impressive. Not only for its size, but in general it held its own with the 6-7” cans as well (DD & Scythe).

We all felt the ZG outperformed the U5 on both hosts. We also felt it edged out the OG by a bit too. I personally thought it was close to the scythe but behind the DD by a bit. Surprisingly, we didn’t notice much of a difference with the OG and ZG on the 16” 6.5C compared to the 20” 6.5C.

The OG and Scythe did spark a healthy amount. The ZG did not, which was surprising.

In all, we were happy with how the ZG performed, especially for its size. As a hunting can it will be tough to beat. Finish was awesome and our sample weighed right at 6oz.

Look forward to snagging one in a few weeks. I’m sure the other guys will pile on or dispute anything they disagree with.

If I get time I “may” try and splice the videos together and post, but again it wasn’t as helpful as I hoped.

Seems like by pretty much all reports, this is the leading series of hunting cans on the market. I just added an OG65 to the stable, probably should have gotten the ZG first. Oh well, just going to have to buy another one I suppose.

Yes, huge thank you for the opportunity set up by @DannyB, Triple J for hosting after hours, and @h2so4 for organizing.

Agree with the conclusions above. ZG 6.5 was a top performer, I did notice more of the “whooshing” sound made by the ZG vs. others. Hard to explain but just felt more tame and not as sharp or boomy as various comparable weight options we had. The DA Nomad is a leader as well, but comes with an obvious size and weight penalty compared to an ultralight 6.5 specific option.
The Ultra 5 was by far the loudest and most boomy. The OG was very close to the ZG. But with the penalty of extra length and some mass for the OG, the ZG seems like a clear choice.

I am newer to the suppressor world and have limited experience but for a hunting specific can I am looking forward to getting a ZG 6.5 as well. With the Scythe Ti issues, the DD Enticer STi or would be my second choice or the OG 6.5.
Shooting all of the above was an invaluable experience and I’m grateful for the whole community here and Airlock for providing the opportunity!

@DannyB what would be the result if you increased the of the dedicated 223 can to that of the Airlock 6.5? An Airlock 6.5 shell with the .223 bore diameter? I'm intrigued by your 223 can but also can't help but wonder how much more quiet it could potentially be if you utilized the same footprint as the Airlock 6.5 and bumped up the volumne. The Airlock 6.5 is already plenty small for most of us and would prefer even further suppression gains.

My thoughts exactly. The size and weight of the Airlock 6.5 already exceed my personal requirements. I would rather have the increased sound reduction over a smaller suppressor. Would think it would be worth testing.

We haven’t printed any prototypes yet, still working on the .22 and .30 at the moment. I’ve got drawings of the prototypes on my computer, but I don’t want to share too many details until it’s printed and tested. Based on the performance we’re seeing with the .22, we think we can downsize the 6 a bit without compromising performance. The exact ratio is still TBD

Is the release plan .30 -> .22 -> 6mm? Any chance the 6mm makes it to the market by next summer/fall?

22 and 30 are coming this winter, with the 6mm planned for spring. And yes, we’ll be looking into a longer 6.5 ZG in the future.
