Air Lock Industries Suppressor

If there were a barrel manufacturer that produced Tikka pre-fits which exhibited a new design resulting in 150 more FPS than your median pre-fit, while also exhibiting best-in-class accuracy, with the caveat being that it wasn't reccomended to mag drop 50 rounds through it in semi-auto format. Otherwise, it was rated and tested to perform safely for my intended use case of western big-game hunting.
I have no dog at all in this discussion (nor any expertise lol), but this misses his point entirely which is that it’s a concern of a margin of safety. Your analogy shouldn’t be that this Tikka pre-fit is “not recommended to mag drop 50 rounds,” but that the muzzle-end of this newfangled barrel is known to rupture at 50 rounds. It's a question of manufacturing and quality control tolerances, and whether you’re going to see a higher % of catastrophic failures in the field compared to other barrels even in normal use cases, since the allowable margin of error in manufacturing and quality control seems lower compared to other barrels.

How many rounds of mag dumping would you be comfortable with? I think we'd all be somewhat concerned if it failed at 5 rounds, even if it was "rated and tested to perform safely for big-game hunting." Is 50 the right number? Form doesn't think so. I haven't a clue, and since it's a newfangled thing from a new company, the data's not really in, is it?

Or maybe it's just all due to the fact that it was a blem, and a normal unit has plenty of margin of safety. 🤷‍♂️

I'll agree to disagree. The pressure/stress exhibited by a 50 round mag dump from an SBR isn't comparable to the pressure/stress exhibited from ~10 or so rounds of 6 CM out of a 20" barreled bolt action across 5 minutes. Which would be the max stress event I could ever envision out of my specific use case..

Also, I'm not saying @Formidilosus is wrong to prioritize durability over weight/sound. His use case my call for that. But I find it weird that someone with his reputation and respect is dragging a can through the mud because it potentially can't handle a use case it wasn’t designed and marketed for in the first place. Especially when i) he has leaned on the 'intended use case' in his support of the OG so often, and ii) his opinion here is seemingly based on an instagram video and no actual use on his own.

It feels wreckless and wrong (to Airlock), as well as contrary to why we all respect him to begin with (in that his opinions are usually supported by immense field use, not armchair/keyboard speculation as is seemingly the case here)

Educate me:
I just bought a suppressor through silencer shop and have prints and a pic on file.
Still new to the game, do I have to go through the whole process again?
Would I use the SS dealer I went through for paperwork? Not sure how to do this without the simplicity of SS and the kiosk?

I'm interested in this or the unknown line up, I believe from reading I can use SS to purchase theirs

Buy the silencer , transfer it to your dealer , the dealer then adds it to his inventory and files through silencershop

Talk about Customer Focus!

Since the can is non-black, emissivity is not 1.0.

So the actual temp might actually be HIGHER than measured unless the IR gun setting was changed.
