Just turned 60. Stepped into western big game hunting (waaay too late) last year, after 45 +/- years of waterfowling. Successful deer hunting friends in my duck club kept feeding me venison and I developed the taste. Five days scouting, 7 days solo hunting on foot in a low density/ easy draw resident zone yielded nothing but starter experience. Had no idea of all the current challenges getting tags in most areas and no idea it had all become so popular requiring so many points until recently. So have adjusted my outlook and expectations for a muley or pronghorn sharply downward accordingly, and will save up for guided access and help. Learning rifles, reloading centerfire, muzzleloaders has been very rewarding though and will keep after that. Will chase pigs and possibly hunt farther east for more available whitetails. Time will tell.....
