So I bought an AGC bino harness. I like it, it’s a great bino harness. My deal is, when I’m actually hunting and walking far distances I hate wearing it. If I buy a lighter harness would I eventually get used to it or would I still want to take it off? Does anyone else have the same problem? What are some alternatives because I want to keep my glass safe and easily accessible. Looking at the marsupial harness. It’s 3 or 4 ounces lighter I believe. I have the vortex 10x50 razors.

Marsupial is much more svelte than AGC. I do not like bulky harnesses. Hate the feeling of having a bulky pack on my chest.

I appreciate the comparisons, that helps a lot. The AGC is bulky to me and that could be my main gripe and I just never realized. I noticed the Muley Freak Bino Harness is lighter than the Marsupial. Do you have any experience with the MF?

No experience with MF. Not a fan and won’t be buying his stuff. Just my opinion though.

I do like the feel of the Marsupial. I will be trying a new small FHF once they are available, if that doesn’t work out I’ll go back to the Marsupial.

I like having the space on the AGC to carry just a small bit of extra stuff. I had a kuiu and hated it. The extra bulk of the AGC isn’t something that I’ve ever noticed but maybe I would if I tried another brand. I usually keep a few extra rounds, knife, range finder and my tags in my AGC. It’s nice to have those for the times I set my pack down and go look at something.

I was thinking the same thing when I bought the AGC. After using it, I prefer to put those items on a hip pocket or in my zipper pocket of my pants.

the only things I like to keep in pants pockets when I’m really doing a bunch of hiking are lightweight hats and gloves and trash from snack wrappers, I don’t like the feeling of hard items in my pockets.

I thought the same, but found I’d rather just use the thousands of square inches of unused pack space. I don’t ever leave my pack behind. So many really good bino packs, just depends on how you want to use it and what is comfortable.

Can’t argue with you there. I do keep minimal items in my pant pockets. I guess my point is, I do better with the extra weight elsewhere. It feels suffocating to me when I have the bino harness weighted down and I have 20-40 pounds on my back depending on the situation.

for sure, each to their own. I guess I figure, 5 rounds of ammo and a havalon in the pockets dosent weigh much, if the weight of your binos makes you feel like you are suffocating then I can’t imagine the minuscule weight savings of a different harness helping unless it’s actually the strap configuration making you feel that way.

you might try those Rick young outdoors superlite bino slings, that’s about as minimal as it gets. You could probably rig something to keep them on your pack belt as well.

FHF has a harness system that attaches to your pack.

I also don’t like having to remove my back pack, then my bino harness in order to change layers.

My 2 cents on the AGC. I have a cub max and then i bought the kiss model. The cub max was too much for me while hunting. too bulky. Now i do like it for turkey hunting, grouse guiding and fishing. I really like the kiss model and I am sure the FHF or some of the other minimal type bino packs would be nice as well

Yeah I should’ve got a KISS model, I got the one with all the bells and whistles and it’s just too much for me. AGC makes bomber, quality harnesses, not saying their gear is junk at all.
I appreciate all the input. When I hunt, I have one thing on my mind and that’s hunting, I throw caution to the wind when it comes to babying my gear and I just don’t want my gear to get trashed lol.
