Aftermarket Tikka stock.. lighter?

Are there any aftermarket Tikka stocks that are lighter then the factory one that are worth upgrading to?

The McMillan Hunters Edge stock saves you a few ozs over the factory stock and IMHO it just makes the overall rifle a nicer one to hunt with.

Tikka has a very well designed stock. As such, as far as functionality goes, you are not likely to notice a difference; unless your scope is well above the action and you actually need to elevate the area your cheek rests on. if you are looking to save weight, XLR makes a chassis for Tikka and they advertise having the lightest aftermarket alternative. I beat the crap out of my Tikka. It is generally my go to hunting rifle, so the use shows, a-lot. But the stock functions perfectly, and the accuracy is like a dream. So I stick with a factory stock. I did however, pick up a Tikka factory stock here with a vertical grip. I really do not notice a difference as the design just fits me. But yeah, that XLR has the cool factor, and I have considered it.

Yeah I don't know what that's all about.. sounds like they have a hater out there somewhere.
I've been hunting hard and shooting hundreds of magnum rounds with mine over the past 5 years (500 rounds and counting)

The one stock I have had issues with was from Pendleton composite stocks, it straight broke near the tang

Paused, not quit, he's shopping for insurance in Canada that is ok selling firearm parts to the US...they think the US is lawsuit happy (Go figure). He plans to resume when he can.

But until then, they are available on the used market.

A rifle that fits better, but weighs a little more is more important to me. Half a pound isnt going to break me and I need a higher cheek piece to shoot well so it is going to weigh more. I have a tikka superlite in a mesa and even with a added stock pack it is a dream to carry in a kifaru gunbearer.

I had really good luck with the Wildcat, but I didn't really save weight over factory. I went with the option that has an I-beam through the grip and all the way to the butt, it adds 6 oz, but I liked the balance better to offset a longer barrel. A big part of the weight variation is actually in the butt pad, to go ultralight you either run a 1/2" thick Pachmayr or else cut a piece of flipflop. I used a "heavy" limbsaver on mine because it's nice to shoot (it was 6 oz I think compared to 3ish for a 1/2"). Make sure to know what recoil pad is being included in the weights so you compare apples to apples.

I have a 1" pad. Stock finished at 21oz...thats 1/2lb lighter than factory...rifle is 5.5# bare, 7.1# w/a 4-16

What about felt recoil? All things being equal, lighter means more recoil. A brake, different recoil pad can help. How does the stock design influence felt recoil (compare Allterra, Manners EHT, Mesa, etc)?
