I could use some knowledgable opinions and advice on a new scope for my older Ruger m77 in 7mm Mag. I put a new barrel (Preferred) on it and it deserves some new glass. It's a western hunting rig so it can't weigh a ton (the wood stock Ruger does a fine job of that!), Would like something about 3x12 or 3x15 with 44mm objective lens. Durability, good glass, and reasonable simplicity in the reticle are important. Fancy turrets less so. But(!) I AM asking for advice so please feel free to open my eyes. First or second focal plane for my needs? Illuminated reticles. MILs or MOA? Even fancy turrets if you must ;) ! Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I can’t afford the $1000 plus glass.
My money goes to older Nikon Monarchs.
They are absolutely amazing for the money, however some times it’s a challenge to find them within reason and they are unwarranted.

The dials on the M5 Monarchs are quick, and have great clicks and a lift to reset zero.
