So last night while doing my usual after work thing of window shopping, refining lists and getting a few ideas for my better half, I ran into a new item.
Adventures Appetites, a local based company here in Alaska, they pre-pack meals ready to cook, not ready to eat.
What impressed me was the calorie/carb/protein count for an average 7.5oz serving. You simply can't beat a 1400 calorie beef stroganoff coma, big dose of carbs and 50 grams of protein in one serving. Price was $9.00/serving. After viewing a few of the meal cards, it appears that they have a cook time of 10-20 minutes which I do believe may be a bit lengthy for some, however it is nice to have at least 1 solid meal on a trip.
Pros:
Massive cal/carb/proteins, 2-3x that of MH meals
Price per serving, I could live with $9/serving.
Pre-measured, just boil/mix.
Cons:
Cook time
Extended cooking kit, addition of pots.
They look tasty, but perhaps a meal best suited for the air strip while waiting. If weight isn't exactly an issue like on our float hunts, they'd be ideal.
