I’ve got an inkling to get a new rifle in the near future and am tossed of between these two. I’d be pairing it with a VX-5HD 3-15
How well does the Adirondack balance with the short barrel? Aside from the longer barrel and included muzzle brake what does the MA have that justifies the extra cost?
I can get the Adirondack for quite a bit less, what would you folks do?

I have an Adirondack 6.5cm and it balanced fine. Didn’t have any issues with balance for the MA I owned.

Honestly I’d say the Montana is the best bang for the buck as they run the same stock (action length dependent. If you don’t care about the plastic stock the hunter is a good rifle but it lacks the brake. The hunter stock can be lightened to the same weight as the carbon stocks.

The newer ones all have threaded muzzles (hunter line doesn’t) and aluminum trigger guards (hunter line doesn’t.

You save basically nothing (6-8gr) for the fluted Bolt and you can order a Ti MA bolt handle for under $100 to your door.

I have a kimber MT in .223 Rem that I haven't shot yet. I had and sold a Kimber Hunter last fall in 6.5 CM that was a shooter like yours. 3/4" group at 100 and 200. I don't want to talk about why I sold it.

Back to the OP.
If you can get an Adirondack for cheaper than a Montana sweet.
Just depends on what bullet and velocity you want to sling them out at.

My 18” creed is doing 2638fps for 140s and 2700 for 127lrx. Fine for the 300yrd range I intend to hunt it.

Love my Adirondack. Definitely fills a niche for a lightweight, packable gun. I have the muzzle brake for mine, but haven't used it. Comes in a couple ounces lighter than a comparable Mountain Ascent.

Thanks guys. I went for the Adirondack. I already have a kimber hunter that has been great-I really enjoy how handy the Adirondack is. Now to see how she shoots!
