For those that have used both Peterson and ADG brass, how did they compare?

I’ve been very happy with my ADG in the calibers I’ve used it in but have been curious about the Peterson. Are guys able to push the Peterson to the same velocities as the ADG? How is the consistency?

In my experience Peterson handles pressure better, I think it's top notch stuff. Talking with a gunsmith about 28 Nosler loads the other day first question he asked was if I was using ADG and said it's trash and recommended Peterson.

Tough question and I’m not a pro but I use both and I personally prefer the Peterson. But end of the day they both are superior brass

I've used both in 300 win mag. Accuracy didn't change but Peterson seemed to handle more pressure.

Interesting. I’ve had nothing but great results with ADG for my 300prc and my 7 rem mag. Wonder why he dislikes it.

How much extra velocity were you able to achieve out of the Peterson?

I didn't change the load. The speed was very close to the same and the Peterson primer pockets lasted longer. They were pretty hot loads.

I imagine there are differences in different cartridges as well. I've been impressed with both companies in my limited exposure to both. ADG does seem to be the king of clickers..

I’ve never heard anyone say that about ADG before, exactly the opposite in fact. Was he referring to 28nos brass specifically or ADG in general?

I’ve never used ADG so I personally don’t know, I tend to stay with Lapua.

Also very true.

I think Peterson will have 7PRC out in the wild before ADG, so that will likely be the direction I go for that rifle. The Hornady brass has been doing Hornady brass things.

He was referring to 28 Nos specifically in that context, but also gave similar advice in the past when I was loading for a rifle he chambered.

Just said it's soft and doesn't handle pressure well, primer pockets let loose quickly.

Peterson backorder arrived today from Unknown. Thinking I may load up a couple with the same load as my virgin ADG and see how the velocities and accuracy compare.

Brass looks fine. Nothing stands out as being better or worse than the ADG.

Maybe you've already done this and know but if not I'd do a quick case capacity check on the new brass before I just used the same load as I do in a different manufactures brass. Only takes a couple seconds to measure case capacity with water and then you'll know if they're similar, the same, or a lot different.

Just did it. Very unscientific but I grabbed a spent primer, pulled the anvil out, and seated one in both pieces of brass. I weighed each one then zero’d the scale individually and filled to the brim with water. Results attached.

I should be good to use my ADG load on the Peterson right? Maybe a little less velocity?

Side note, pulled out the E420 headspace comparator and did some checking against once fired ADG in the rifle these will be used in.

All of my results have been from non-magnum cartridges but I've had great luck with Peterson. Very consistent when new. I need to order some 300prc and I was bouncing between these two brands so I want to see what else is said.

FWIW, Blue Collar Reloading has Lapua 300 PRC brass on sale right now.

Both very consistent. IME, Petersen has a bit less capacity, and will get to the same speed with less powder.

Haven’t had a chance to check velocity but from what I saw (post 15) the ADG had less capacity than the Peterson.

A buddy of mine sent me a screenshot from someone in Facebook that had the same results with their 7 PRC brass.

We’ll see how it does when I get a chance to go shoot it. Overall it looks fine.
