Feel free to laugh and make fun. I’ll follow up after this season on my experience with the glue.

Yes, I said glue. Review on Amazon said it holds well on canvas tents. I did not treat my tent with anything like I thought about doing. 20 something years old, too many sources said not to. Never leaked anyway. This stuff was about 6 bucks.

Got the stove jack of Amazon too. At this point you may laugh. Too hot and the only shade available was here. Short on headroom so I only could get the wall up on the stove side. As a plus, I cranked the swamp cooler to 10, opened the door and had a great cool breeze.

Laid everything out, marked it up, had a drink and began surgery.

I wiped all the dirt off I could from the perimeter of the cut to give the glue it’s best chance. Laid a decent amount all over the canvas edge of the new jack. Tried to rig a brace off my ladder so I could put some weight down to give the glue a better chance, but it didn’t work. The glued surfaces seemed to hold together anyway, almost sucked itself down.

Glue is dry, and flexible and stuck well. I can’t lift a corner off, so I toasted to a minor victory.

Since the base camp will be going in on a SxS, I’m not taking the nice big stove. I’m taking the seek XL stove, and that will go right up thru the new vent.

Also a good time to prove out my latest base camp power supply, V 2.0

120w solar, 55ah battery and power ports for everything, including lights.
Had good luck with a 90w panel till about 2 weeks of use. Then we had to try and get back to camp mid day and move the panel to get best sun.

Also made up a extension cord so the PV can get max sun.

I tore it down today and packed the tent for September. If that glue has some decent durability I may just cut some windows in too.
It was very flexible and the bond between the two fabrics is solid.

Time to update. Tent was up all September. Made it thru some epic rains, that glue held like a pit bull. Highly recommended. Still can’t peel a corner back and never leaked.
We got the seek stove rippin hot more than once.FFAE840E-89A3-432C-BF75-4F1CA0163098.jpegD3CF28A4-BFEA-4D60-9021-74E55B14F2C9.jpeg

One more thing, this stove fuel is better than any wood we cut . 5 bucks for 40# bag too.

One more update. Just set up the tent in the backyard to hose it off, that glue is holding very well. I wish I had kept the piece of canvas I cut out, there are a couple tiny pinholes I could patch, but when it’s dry tomorrow I’ll just put a bit of glue on them. Not bad for a 21 year old tent that has over 200 nights.

I will be buying a screened window to glue in, and I’ll save that cut out for patching, this tent looks like it could go another 20.
