been having to tighten action to stock bolts every time i shoot. so far even at 85 inch pounds after 5 rounds. 300 rum. tonite i added 10 more to 95 inch pounds. not willing to use loc tite for these. anyone with experience on this caliber would be cool. have shot 261 rounds so far and its became a part of maintenance i never have had so often, every time with this one...... rifles a CA ridgeline. thanks.

The blue loctite paste is what I use. I have a stick I bought years ago that I'm still working on. I've never had a screw come loose but never had any trouble taking one back out.

I wouldn't go any tighter as you may be crushing the stock and/or stretching the screws. Is it pillar bedded? Loctite would be my suggestion too.

you have a bedding issue that's causing this and I would not tighten the screws that tight, 65 in lb is plenty tight enough - Bed the stock/action - BLUE Loctite is the stuff to use

thanks for the replys. its never stayed tight starting at 65 inch pounds. ive never had this problem in the past on other rifles but they were a lesser caliber but at the same time this rifle has a brake and feels less than a unbraked .308 win so its odd to me in my thinking. christiansen arms said it was fine to go to 80 inch pounds be it a 300 rum and even had said more was fine as long as the ends of screws were not purtruding into other areas of action interfering with function so i have steadily tightened more hoping it would settle out. the bedding being crushed makes sense as well. it still shoots the same so not certain on that. but isnt right for sure. ill request new screws as im sure these are stretched by now and have the stock looked at, but when it works with the season. thanks again for info.....

There is definitely something wrong. Is it pillar bedded ? If so you shouldn't crush the stock. If you take the rifle out of the stock and examine it do you see any rub marks where it is moving ? Could be a bedding issue or the stock could have a crack and be flexing.

Degrease the threads on the screws and rifle. Use blue loctite on them. Get the action in and screw in so the screws are just snug. Tap the butt stock on the floor to make sure the whole works is seated, then snug to torque.

When you shoot make sure you don't have the stock in any kind of rest that doesn't allow it to recoil naturally. . .

+1 on the blue loctite. Shouldn't have to do it, but any screw on a firearm (from pistol sights to scope mount screws) that I don't want coming loose, I use blue loctite. It is easily removable but doesn't allow physics of normal use to screw you up. No pun intended. :D

talked to them today. they want me to send my rifle in to check out.... yup... not untill seasons are over so guess ill be torquing as usual. another pain in the arss.... hope they work with me and re drill the scope base holes as well to 8x40's as they should have been... the 6x48's dont belong on a 300 rum... thanks for the reply.
