What speeds did you end up with on those 140 AH out of the 280AI? I've got a Cooper in 280AI I'm going to try some in.

Following this too, I have Cooper 280ai and not happy w lrx w Reloader 17 or IMR4350 so will be back to start over after season.

Try h4831sc- might not get the fastest bullet you want, but my groups are great with Barnes 2875fps. Nosler group very similar at the time. I wanted the ability to hunt with lead and non lead bullets.

IMR 4955 is basically the same thing. I can get the hammers close to 3100 with it, but run out of case capacity.

Though H4350 & IMR 4451 would be better for hammer bullets.

I started where you left off with my Kimber MA and Fed210M's.

46gr - 2776 fps
47gr - 2851 fps
48gr - Error
49gr - 2967fps
50gr - 3004 fps
51gr - 3051 fps
52gr - 3120 fps

No signs of pressure. Will keep going in 1gr increments until pressure is hit.

Hello, and thank you both for posting the reloading data on the 280AI and IMR 4166.
I am reloading for a new rifle: 280 AI, 24"Bbl, Kimber 84L MA
I have been reloading once-fired brass from factory Nosler 140 Accubond: the factory load was giving some nice tight groups but reading the brass it looked like it was showing some pressure signs. I usually hand load anyway, so I saved the brass and am working up loads for 2 different bullets: 145 Barnes LRX and 143 Hammer Hunter. Here are the pictures of the brass from the Hammer Hunters.

Brass was fired once previously, in my rifle (factory Nosler 140 Accubond),
Cleaned, tumbled, resized and reloaded with:
143Gr Hammer Hunters (3 grains heavier than the 140's in your load workup)
Winchester Large Rifle Primers (WLR)
IMR4166 Powder
It looks like I'm getting some pressure signs -the question is: what is the place to stop 48, 49, 50, 51, 52? or something else? I have not had a sticky bolt, or anything else that would indicate overpressure. I started at 45 Gr of IMR 4166, the primers flattened out at 46 to 47 Grains and all look about the same as far as degree of flatness goes from then on. Other than fairly flat primers (and I've seen flatter ones on other rifles), I did not notice anything until 49Gr and here are the pictures with load info typed on them. I expected that I would see pressure signs at lower powder charges than you did because of the 3 grain heavier bullet I'm using, but at 49 grains of IMR4166 seems a little too early. So, second opinions on how to interpret these would be much appreciated. I recognize that I am solely responsible for the load that I decide to shoot, but I'd like to hear opinions on what experienced reloaders have to say. Have you measured your chamber in your rifle? How far off the lands are you loading? If you are sizing to SAAMI spec I wonder if you may have an issue with your chamber. I've personally never heard of anyone getting pressure signs with modern factory ammunition, but I'm certainly no expert!!!!

I’m pretty sure the guy on that Backfire YouTube channel just had a factory savage 110 ultralight shooting factory ammunition and almost had a case head separation. I’d have to rewatch whatever video it was but I thought that’s what he said had happened.

We’re living in some strange times so why not add having factory stuff almost blowing up in your face to the list!
