I ordered up a bunch of AAE vanes from Lancaster and then realized that they cant ship the primer pen up to Canada. I understand that AAE vanes don't hold well without the primer pen. Does anyone know how I might be able to get around this problem, replacement product or somewhere I could buy the primer pen in Canada that wont cost me 20$ to ship a 5$ pen.

Cheers

I would pay for the pen however you can get it. Without that pen, you are going to struggle to get good adhesion.

The other option is return the vanes and shoot other brands. AAE isn’t the only show in town and I don’t even think they are that great.

I just did up a set of arrows with the AAE hybrid vanes. Within the bags of vanes was a big yellow warning label saying do to use the pen or anything else on the vanes as it would strip the primer.

I followed this direction and used the wipe on my arrows, no wrap, and the AAE Max bond.

They have held very strong.

Never shot AAE before but wanted to try a few different sizes of vanes, the price was right. What vanes would you recommend if you don't like the AAE vanes. I am looking for something 2 1/4 long and 2 3/4-3inch long vane. recommendations would be appreciated.

I have always shot flex fletch. I shoot the FFP 225 for target stuff which is a low profile 2.25” and the FFP 310 for hunting which has a medium profile and is 3.1” long.

Flex Fletch has been very durable, holds it shape well and are not overly heavy. You do have to wipe the bane with acetone or something similar as the come with some residual release agent on them from the manufacturing process.
