A thread to test your field scoring

Here is my sons from this year. We found this buck in early October and really liked him even if he was a little young and light horned. Opening morning of the youth hunt came and my son turned him up about a mile from where he had been a few weeks earlier.

This one went 164” gross with a light but picture perfect frame.

This brute is my best buck to date, carried a boat load of mass and was outside his ears he taped right at 170ish once again he had a giant head and body. I need to do a better job of record keeping

I love the way Mulies have different ways of getting to a similar score. To me a 170" buck is a damn good buck and I haven't broken that mark by even an inch yet!

It seems as though, when viewing the majority of the bucks on this thread through 150-170"s that the 170" bucks are always noted to have a big head/body. Something to keep in mind when trying to evaluate on the hoof, I almost didn't pull the trigger on this year's buck which was my personal best due to the fact his head/body were so large his antlers looked proportional and nothing extraordinary... Sure glad I didn't pass him now!

Guess I’ll finally add one myself. This was my first and best. I’ve measured it several times using B&C website and it comes in at 142 without deductions. I measured multiple times because i couldn’t believe all that was hiding in such a narrow rack. If he had had some width he could’ve really been something, but im still quite proud of him

Here was one that really fooled me. Last year my son and I found this buck bedded with some does during his youth hunt. We had just lost an opportunity on a monster non-typical after a long hike to try and get him in shooting range. A little dejected (he was 11 at the time) we started hiking back out when I spotted this buck at 400 yards. After 15 minutes of watching him he never moved his head, but being that it would be my son’s first deer he was more than happy to get the opportunity. We snuck into 200 yards and he made a perfect shot. I was absolutely blown away when we walked up on this deer… way better than what the side profile made him look like.

This deer was right at 24” wide and 20” inside and grossed 160 with awesome mass. This one really had me fooled.

Yeah from initial glance he looks heavy but I would have said 140 type buck, what a dang stomper though! Shooter all day! the side profile makes his Main beams look short cause of the longer g-4 but he has a super solid frame and much better main beams than you would think
