Alright guys I had a brain storm. As a fella from the east, I don’t get to look at a lot of mule deer until I’m on my hunt. This is a bit of an issue as every mule deer looks huge compared to a whitetail. So I thought why don’t we make a thread where you can practice before it’s the heat of the moment? Plus, you can guess a bucks score all you want but at the end of the day there’s no way to know till he’s dead. So here’s my solution:

Post a few pics of your bucks from different angles. Mounts, grin n grins, whatever.

Then below that post what it scores.

Maybe someone already did this but I didn’t find it searching, so hopefully we can get this going and make it useful to guys like me that can’t see deer every day.

Would also be cool to see some average bucks. 190”ers are awesome but not all of us are ever going to get the chance at a buck like that. Some places we hunt may never even produce a buck like that. So let’s see your trophy, not what B&C calls one.

I'll start...

Passed this buck twice last year thinking he was high 140s-mid 150s. Shot him on the last day and was pleasantly suprised.

Went 161" gross

Had a really hard time field judging this one. Had lots of video to look at (some screen shots here) and guessed him to be somewhere in the 150s.

He was a little bigger than I thought with better mass and 27” wide and is somewhere around 169-170”. Once I actually had him in range opening morning I knew he was bigger than I initially thought and definitely a shooter.

I hunted this buck for about 5 days. Taxidermist taped him at 186 1/8 .

He carried a surprising amount of mass all the way through the splits.
