A question concerning power washers.

We could make this hunting related with enough imagination. What experience do you have with home power washers? I’m looking for something that will work but not break the bank.

I also moved from gas to electric for home. Works fine with way less hassle and takes up less space. Ryobi brand is okay so far.

I used a 3000 psi gas power washer to clean euro’s and flesh capes when I did taxidermy. Works like a charm. This is my contribution to making power washers hunting related. Lol

I wash the mud off my truck with them. So now it’s really hunting related @butcherboy ! My uncle was a taxi and ran the Home Depot brand one for years (the yellow ones—name????) gas powered, I borrowed it a few times to prep concrete for paint and sure handy to have around. Have not experienced the electric lines

I strongly recommend Honda small engines, I've had great experiences with them and have 2 pressure washers with Honda engines both have been great.

Dewalt 3600 psi gas powered unit with the Honda engine. Use it weekly, mostly to clean up the patio areas. Kid and dog detritus. Also cleaning the cars.

I’ve had it 2 years and zero problems.

People complain that the “pump will seize up.” Of course it will if you leave the engine run for a while without pushing water through the hose. Point being, if you have to stop for anything (move hose, pressure washer, ladder, etc) just shut the thing off. Restart when ready.


My sailors use electric ones to clean the bilges on the ship. They work but are definitely a more “consumable” item.

Well if you might want it for euros, try and get one around the 3000psi mark. That seems to be about the perfect pressure.

For euro’s I used it to clean the skulls from a distance after macerating. Be careful because it will blow out the nasal passages and nose bones. I’m looking into the commercial electric ones that work as a steam cleaner to clean my meat plant. A cheap one is close to 2k….

Electric ones work fine for infrequent use. They take up minimal space and are easy to setup. I have 2 cheap electric ones, 3800 psi gas Dewalt, 3000 PSI gas rigid, and 4000 PSI gas industrial one. I think Honda makes the best gas engine there is personally. Equally important as the gas engine is the pump itself on the washer. The best pumps will allow you to change the oil in them every year which will significantly increase the lifespan. If you do a little research on lower end pumps they will have a finite lifespan rated in hours. Once the pumps lock up you throw them away. Usually pumps go bad way before the gas engine dies. HIgher end pumps have lots of serviceable parts on them. Use good gas and fuel stabilzer along with keeping the units from freezing and they will last a very long time. My personal favorite pumps are the CAT pumps but there are several good brands out there.

Electric one is fine with me, but I only use it to clean the deck, vinyl fence, and some siding. The Sun Joe brand has worked fine for the last 5 years.

It depends... live in the city get any turd really... not like you have specific needs.

For cleaning off the dozer and backhoe I bought one from Tractor supply online. The high gpm/psi was unmatched within its price range.. this was spring of 21 though. Maybe things have changed.

If you do buy a nice one. Get one that you can rebuild the pump on, if you actually work it... if you're just cleaning dog shit off your driveway.. it doesn't matter.
