A methhead stole my skid marked undies

Yeah.....the seeley/swan valley campground (and disperse site) scene has gone completely off the rails. People attempt to "claim" or "save" spots days and weeks in advance or leave a pile of shit that they think entitles them to return at their leisure and continue on their pilgrimage. It's rarely enforced or even policed.

Maybe it was the USFS Rec Dept cleaning up and hauling out what they figured was abandoned.
I talked to usfs and they confirmed that they didn’t pick it up

Really?! And you’re actually telling people about your stupid decision. And blaming someone else for your stupidity? Pretty stupid.

Taking responsibility by saying “ it’s my fault” is blaming someone else? Someone can’t read too good .

so anyone busting this guy's balls has never left their camp site for more than 6 hrs?
I mean if your trying to plant your flag a few days ahead of time and your not around that's different story...but 6 hrs?
Your gonna be gone out in the woods longer than that each day to hunt.
Sounds like just bad luck and $hitty people, sorry to here that OP.
I had a moderately nice jacket stollen within 15 minutes of hanging it on a fence while having family photos taken 100 ft away but out of sight...in a remote park that only had 2 other cars in parking lot. Plenty of tweaker and crack heads out there, but unfortunately just alot of $hitty people in general in the world.
Damn i hate a thief🤬

I appreciate it. All and all everything is replaceable but it’s still quite the annoyance.

The room temp IQs on this site really show up at times like this.

Agreed. With above. I sleep in my topper and often times when I leave for the day there's very little actual "camp" left to display my residency in a spot. I have left a chair, or simply a note with the date.

I only had one issue where sombody took my spot, but they had a long horse trailer and the spot I had claimed was only one of 3 spots with that access. I setup camp in the dark and chatted with the person and understood they needed it and that was the end of it.

Then again I'm mostly a small game hunter and not typically in the high profile areas many of you are.

For the people blaming the OP, you never leave your camp unattended? Weather camping with the family or solo hunting, at some point every trip we leave camp unattended. We always try and lock, hide or take valuables but some things get left in camp. I have no sympathy for thieves and less for people who try and justify stealing by saying things like abandoned property. If it is not yours do not touch it.

Saving camp spots down here means leaving you RV in the NF for 4 months . Just pull it and use it on the weekends. FS does not do squat about it. I think that's why people feel entitled to steal stuff or park for months in the NF. Seems no one respects the law or rules anymore. Crazy.

Everyone busting on this guy .. every time you leave your camp site you take your tent down? Load everything into your truck?

You have never left camp set up and left it before? Never went hunting during the day and left your tent setup?

He didn't leave a camp setup, it appears he left a storage bag that was likely seen by another camper and assumed to be forgotten.

" I left some of gear at a NF camp site near seeley lake to save my spot."

"All in the aforementioned large storage bag"

To the OP, I am sorry for your loss of gear. I come down on the side showing a bit of grace and not understanding thieves. Have never understood it, probably (hopefully) never will. Not sure when I will get that far west again but want to be adequately prepared. What is a meth-ed up price for crusty boxers?

I had to come back to Ohio to get my catalytic converter stolen by some drugged out welfare receiving piece of shit.
GF likes to give West Virginia flack till I remind her of that.
And in her quaint little town I witnessed some shirt bird driving his demo derby car to dollar general
After an event.

I have. A set up camp tho.
OP never mentioned a camp set up or a tent. He only said that he left a large bag containing all of the items on the ground to save his spot. Hardly the same.
In these times, to see just a large bag of gear laying on the ground with nobody around and no camp set up, only invites a thief.

That's what is read like to me as well. Most of us that live here want to keep the place clean so will pick up things like that left in the woods.
