My first run at one. I screwed up and wasnt paying attention and had the seams showing on the outside at the opening of the bag. Otherwise, effectively, works great.

I went by the dimensions of the Stone Glacier load sling, but then slimmed it down into sort of an upside down teardrop shape, slimmer at the bottom, wider at the top to try and keep heavier meat up top and help with a stable load. I used the super secret measuring tool suggested by Stid2677 in one of his posts to shape the bottom. The bottom width is 12.5 inches

I'm planning on making another and trying out some seam sealing tape with it along the sides, leaving the bottom unsealed to allow for blood drainage.

Its 30 D Silnylon. Grossgrain webbing for the strap handle.

Looks good man! I'm going to try this. Question, is Silnylon breathable enough for meat? Overheat/spoil? I was planning on using non-treated ripstop but it would have more uses coated.

The silnylon isnt breathable at all and its highly water resistant to waterproof depending on the quality. I'm going to use it mainly for transporting meat in the pack, taking it out to breath for long stops or camp. I'll have the meat in a breathable game bag, then put it in the silnylon bag for transport.

I have it mainly for something much stronger than a contractor garbage bag and reusable over and over again.

What stitch did you use and type of thread? I'm just getting into sewing and am clueless with the basics. My machine has 60 programed stitches with adjustable width. Do you fold the seams in a specific way for extra strength?

I did an open seam with an allowance of about 1/2 inch with a straight stitch, being it was the first run I've done I just wanted to throw them together to see how they would turn out. The thread is Gutermann Tex 50. I'm planning on seam taping the seams for a little extra strength and waterproofing and leaving and inch or two untaped at the bottom for drainage.

I don't have personal experience with trying it but everything I have read tells me that seam tape won't work for silnylon. Only sealing with a silicone solution will help. Tape and other stuff just doesn't stick to silnylon. Just wanted to throw that out there before you spent a bunch of money on some. If you want to use seam tape, you might need a material coated with a Poly-Urethane coating at least on the side that is going to be taped. You will find that this is the case with waterproof bags and even shelters. For instance, the GoLite SL5 is stated as Silicone/PU 1200mm Waterproof Fire Retardant Coating. My guess is it is a silicone treatment on the outside and the PU treatment on the inside which allows the seams to be taped. Just something to maybe look into...

Otherwise, though, it looks really good. I still need to look into making a few of these should I find the need. Also, you might actually find it useful to have it leak a bit at the bottom to keep the blood from pooling. Just depends on your intended use I guess.

So I just started making stuff sacks as well and wanted to do a meat bag like this, my question to you is what we're your dimensions before you sewed up up..When I made my stuff sack for my sleeping bag I had to use pi (r2) to get the diameter I wanted

Oh, originally I did. I will see if I can dig it up. It was on an old harddrive that I have since replaced. I think, just guessing, that you can just copy and paste from the Google document into Excel.
