I'll be hunting on 45 acres with the property owner during the
first week of December for W.T,. and maybe a bear will wonder
along. For a pump action 30-06 Remington Model Six what
ammo and grain weight would be best?

I use 180 Remington cor-lokts never lets me down. Deadliest mushroom in the woods.

If you are shooting at 50 yards, it won't matter that much.

Core-lokts group poorly for me. In my Weatherby Mk V .30-06 I either shoot handloads or Barnes factory cartridges loaded with 180 grain TTSX.

165 or 180 is what i always used in 30-06 for years in virginia, you will be fine with either

cor loct, hornady american whitetail, etc. dont need nothing fancy

I shoot 150 grain's, but really you'll be fine with any grain 30-06 as long as you use a bullet suitable for deer.

Range day today for a check up on two of the rifles that will be used for the up-coming whitetail season, The Remington 760 is running 180 S.P. cor lokts factory load and the #1 Ruger is running 165 Sierra Soft Points hand load both rifles are are shooting Deer D.R.T. both rifles are 3006, Friday will tune up the 450 BushMaster just for shits and giggles.
