Stid as always your stories and epic photos are a true inspiration for every hunter out there. You have had many great years. I can only dream of one day doing a sheep hunt. Thanks again. Enjoyed this a lot.

Hands down the best and most inspiring post I've ever read. Heck, I'd pay to read it again. Really well written, insightful and good photos. Thanks so much and congrats to a decade few people get to experience in a lifetime.

Thanks, it was great to read your evolution of being a mountain/sheep hunter. It goes to show you there is no substitute for experience and lessons learned. Thanks for sharing those lessons! It makes me fired up to get into the mountains again, luckily my next sheep hunt in only two weeks away !!

Thanks for taking the time to share your story and passion for Mtn hunting. This is the kind of stuff that gets published. You are are blessed man to be able to
Keep living your dream and adding your wife and son in the mix is a huge bonus. I am thankful to have hunted sheep once and for that I will always feel blessed to the core.

All the best in 2014 Sir!

Stid, your writing reminds me of Timberline's. Are you sure your not related? Awesome!

WOW, Thanks Sir. I too enjoyed reading of Mr Bill's adventures. He lives on through the stories he shared.

I considered putting this all into book form. But, once I researched it, the cost to included color photos would simply make it far too expensive, so I would rather share with the next generation.

Have you looked into Shutterfly or something similar? M y wife makes a nice hardbound photo album every year for very cheap. obviously hers have a lot less text but still something to consider for yourself and immediate family.

What a tremendous documentation of your evolution as a sheep hunter. I have had the privilege of hearing many of these stories in person (as well as living a couple :)) but to see it all in print and hear your thoughts on the process of becoming a mountain hunter was exceptional. Thank you for a job very well done.

I know you have more adventures awaiting you in the mountains still...

Really want to thank you for taking the time to document everything so well and take us along on your journey. I get a little down sometimes having come to mt hunting years after I should have-feel like I wasted a lot of time. And it can feel like such an obstacle to overcome, getting into new areas after new animals with all life throws in the way. I guess getting to read about your evolution is a reminder that it doesn't all come in a day, or a trip, its an endless process. Well done and thanks again. Now quit sounding like you're done, get that knee replaced with some space aged sh-t and get after it!

Mr Josh,,

Never too late to get at it, just get some young folk to help you out. :)

Funny about the knee, saw the surgeon a couple weeks ago. He said yep knee is wore out, need a new one and I recommend no climbing, or more importantly no climbing DOWN. I thanked him and told him I would see him next winter. :) You know you got it bad when your health need decisions are based on sheep hunting.

Miss Becca,, thanks so much for all you and Luke have done for Flor and I, the highlight of my sheep hunting was only possible because of you both.

Well, I'm not that old! (34) more just wishing I had things a little more dialed as time goes quickly. Just transitioning in life and focusing on what is important. Only regret is not traveling to hunt before I had two small boys. I'm gone half the year for work so that counts against my days afield somewhat as well. Just saying its a nice reminder everyone started somewhere I guess. I would volunteer to help you on the downhill but you've got a good crew already. Good luck as always.

Steve I know you been told this but seriously write a book or do a dvd or something. I have read lots of dall sheep books from some so called experts and the difference between you and them is you are real. You write from the heart and I get the sence you hunt that way. Ive shared pms with you on the other site at times, Ive read your tales. You sir are a great hunter. Everything you do you do 110 percent. I never read and complaining or blaming anyone like happens so often with hunting in Alaska. You dig in you over come and you simply learn from experience then you go one step forward and you share your ups and downs with all to see in an effort to help. You always step up and help those who need it and offer advice every cance you get. You keep on hitting those mountains and sharing those stories. I am going to save your journey for my son to read when he is old enough to see how a man can adapt and become a true hunter. I respect the hell out of you and if you get to a point and need some legs you call me and I will be your packer(or get a young buck for ya..:) )
