998 yd Deer with a 300 Norma Improved. Video included.

I'll let him know! I killed already actually. We're back home now. Just not sharing anything this year. But since my hunting partner got shared anyways, I had some great photos to go along with the post!

Hahaha he's not on rokslide. But he was killing elk with a 6mm before it was mainstream on here. He loves the 243 AI and 105 Berger and killed a bunch of stuff with the combo. But also appreciates the BC, hit rates, and potential trauma of the bigger stuff as long as you get a good rest.

We both have 6.5-7 PRC's shooting the 156's into small groups. I committed to using to mine for the hunt. He couldn't haha. His 300 NMI was just so consistent at the range, and we knew the shots could be long. So he committed to the 300 NMI and made a great shot with it.
Sounds like Blake is a smart man!

Wow. The video makes it look so easy. I bet my max range is 1200 yards....

Just kidding. Heck of a shot. I'll stick to 300 or less.

The bc on the 245 lrht is substantially higher than the eol. The lrht is a .846 and the EOL is .807. Based on results from a bunch of customers and myself the 245 lrht is devastating on game.
Thanks, thats good to know as I have no experience at all with the lrht. They are hard to find in Australia, but I will see if I can track some down here.

Stud buck and some excellent shooting. Sounds like that guy puts in the work to be effective at long range.

Long range is all about understanding your limitations and the odds of a good outcome. Congrats to the hunter on a beautiful buck
You nailed that Will. We’ve also passed up many 1000 yard shots in order to get closer because of just the ability to do so, the environmental conditions, or stability available in the area.

Neither of us seek out long range “opportunities”. It’s more so that animals can get more mature in areas that most people can’t kill them due to distances across canyons. So those areas are more conducive to someone looking for mature animals, and that can effectively drop a bomb.

I spotted my buck at 1000 yards and killed him at 370 yards. I’ll do that all day every day if the terrain allows it.

Perfect! As it should be :)
However the opportunity presents itself, and being able to capitalize, is “as it should be” IMO. If there wasn’t a knob between me and him, I’d have been dialing my turret. Don’t think I’m above that for a second lol.

This is what the LR Karens will never understand. 1500 yard rifles work at normal ranges too.
They work really good too lol.

No doubt you'd take the long shot and no doubt you've prepped for it. It's just nice to see someone go the extra step and have the skills to close the distance when it's applicable. I have the same SOP/MO. Good work, congrats to both of you!!!

Thank you Bob! And yes sir, I always close the distance if the terrain allows.
