950 yard bull

Ive got no problem with marksman that execute clean shots at any range. The problem as I see it is long range shooting has been glorified by the masses such that for every one marksman that executes cleanly, there are hundreds that are slinging lead all over the place during hunting season. You tube is full of shots with multiple clear misses before a hit, and Im guessing only the kill hits get shown and wounding hits don't. I think same can be send for the glorification of archery hunting as the pinnacle of bro-apex-hunter culture.
Just talked to a coworker that finished up a deer hunt. There was also an elk hunt going on. He pulled up on a group and watched a guy unload on an elk and didn't even come close to hitting it. As he was pulling out a second rifle my friend mentioned it was 1300 yards. They acted surprised it was that far. They continued to shoot 17 rounds before making a hit that luckily somehow hit vitals. Proceeded to high five and comment on the great shot. The elk never ran away it was so far off the shots didn't scare it. Yeah, long range "hunting". Unbelievably lucky that elk didn't run off with 3 legs or a gut shot.

Must have had a big cartridge to kill at that range. These piss ant RS cartridges would have bounced off the elk at that distance.
